When I was a kid a neighbour had a pesky sheepdog called Fritz who, when we were playing football, used to try round up all the kids into the goals.

I hated that dog Fritz too..

This is a pesky Fritz as well! He's playing just well enough to make Djokovic work! The 1st serves are helping him out quite a bit! :thinking-face: :face-with-hand-over-mouth::face-with-tears-of-joy: :fearful-face:

Except when he’s serving for the set, eh? It’s not just him, or that he’s playing Novak, it’s weaker players in general who play big until they need to, then they become meek..,

The 35-year-old Novak is playing his B-game, at best, yet still on the cusp of beating a 25-year-old Fritz — who does that say more about?

Congratulations Djokovic 8th WTF final and 6th atp finals title unfortunately Fritz got put off on massive point which changed the match.

Fritz is definitely elite player who going to win more big titles in the future .

Perhaps, but I’m not counting on him winning championship point in the finals of a Slam.

Fritz sure has had a slow and steady development arc. He grabbed my attention back in 2016, when he became one of the youngest guys in the top 100...finishing #76 at 19 years old. His year-end rankings from 2015 - 22 tell the story: 174, 76, 104, 49, 32, 29, 23, 9.

Slow and steady, with a big jump this year. His ascent is actually someone similar to Davydenko, who from 2000-05 (age 19-24) was ranked 133, 79, 81, 44, 28, 5.

This in contrast to the steeper and quicker rise of someone like Zverev - 2014-17 (age 17-20): 136, 83, 24, 4.

The doubles semifinal between Glasspool/Heliovaara and Mektic/Pavic begins in about 30 minutes. While the former team wins hands down for exotic last names, the latter will hopefully win.

He seems t/b laboring already! He went over & was leaning instead of sitting during the changeover! Is he ill or just getting old and feeling it? :thinking-face:
Probably suffering withdrawal symptoms from his bottle now that they're watching him and his team like a hawk as they should be.

I dont think either player, Novak or Fritz were at their best in the match, came down to a few points here and there won by Novak.

In the next match I favor Hair Dude, the faster surface suits his game and he is on a bit of a tear, defeating Meddy and The Tool aka The Young Greek.

Agree, not a high quality contest really.

I hope The Dude goes to final, he is riding high on recent wins and is showing a decent level of play here.
