Hope Nadal plays much better tomorrow and Zverev probably is not going to have a match as easy as playing against Nadal who let him play too easy. Very interesting both matches

If Roger wins is Rafa numero Uno for the Year ?
What Rafanoy said is that if Rafa wins tomorrow AND Roger beats Novak, then he keeps the #1. Rafa still has to keep up his end.

Nope. Rafa can go for honeymoon. He does not need to do anything as long as Roger beats Novak.

Rafa is on lead right now. Fed beating Novak would mean, Novak cannot add any more points. Case closed.

Rafa's going to have to play a LOT better tomorrow, but he's still yet to lose to Medvedev. The Tsitsipas/Zverev match seems very hard to call. Both coming off of big, confidence-boosting wins. Both with a lot to prove. Zed is defending the title, and both he and Tsitsipas trying to make up for some less-than-stellar results across the year. Medvedev had become the young man-of-the-moment, and I think that had to sting for all of the young ones trying to be the best of the next Gen.

Wow, a lot of pressure on that Fed/Djoker match, then, since Roger does have some skin in the game, meaning that he can help protect his weeks at #1. Oh, right...and he'd like to win the tournament again.

Ok. Let me simplify the situation for all.

1. If Roger beats Novak, Ralph is guaranteed to finish as YE #1 independent of what Ralph does.

2. If Roger does not beat Novak, then Novak advances. However, if Novak does not win SF, then again Ralph finishes #1 independent
of what Ralph does.

3. If Novak advances and wins event, then Ralph will be #1 only if Ralph reaches finals.

4. If Novak reaches finals and loses the finals, Ralph would be #1 provided he (Ralph) wins at least one RR match. Ralph does not
need to reach finals and does not even need to reach SF.

I would wait until that happens. Funny though, when the group was announced, basically everyone figured that Novak and Roger would advance. Credit to Thiem...he came to win. He's never been out of the RR stage before, and this is the first time he got 2 wins at the YEC.

Wow, I wrote recently that I expected to have fun watching Thiem win in 2020.... it came sooner than expected. Obviously a completed untalented player that somehow managed to beat the two greatest indoor players of all time, all that without a big serve. Yep, no talent at all...

Hint for the replies: Both Federer and Djokovic are past their prime.

EDIT. For fck sake I wrote "pasted" for "past" before this correction. Yes, my subconscious was telling me that Federer will somehow copy and paste his prime at some point.

For reasons that I find explicable, it's almost harder around here to be a fan of Thiem than of Murray, but good on you for sticking to your guns. It seems that Thiem is as fed up as you are by the disrespect. Not fooling around this week.

This is where Nadal not reaching the Paris final due to injury is looming large for now. That 240 points looks “big” right now.

Anyways, Nadal HAS to play better and win tomorrow! No excuses of not playing well especially knowing he controls his destiny once again.

Also, for seeding purposes, I want Zverev to win against Tsitsipas tomorrow night. If Zverev wins, then the winner of Nadal-Tsitsipas will be go on into the semifinals.

Congrats to Domi. Not easy feat these back to back wins.

It'll sting for a bit, but glad for him! I can't be a hypocrite when kvetchin' about the Next Gen and their inability to finish! Dom may complete the deal and I'll live! This is Roger's best chance at some kind of redemption, but I can't see any reason the result should be any different! He's not playing that tough and even when he does, he's proved to have trouble completing the deal! Nole can't win 'em all, but hopeful he can match Roger's record here to add yet another item to his resume! :yesyes: :p  :ptennis:
