I saw a list yesterday before the match of win streaks in men's tennis to start the year. Novak has a couple of outrageous ones, and then a retired player, like Connors, then I think I saw Roger at #4, with 17-0 in 2018. Rafa now sits at 14-0 on the year. While I wasn't going to mind so much how he did in Acapulco, obviously the win over Med was huge, and since he's in the final, we all want him to win it. That would put him at 15-0 on the year. So I THINK that, if he wins 3 rounds at IW, he passes Roger and becomes #4 on that list. Anyway, he'd pass Roger. If anyone can find that stat, I'd be grateful. One match at a time, so ¡Vamos, Rafa! a por el título en Acapulco.
You are correct, Moxie. If Nadal wins tonight and his first three matches at IW, then he will surpass Federer's start in 2018.

Congratulations to GOATdal on his 3rd title of the year all on hardcourt and on his 91st career title. What an amazing start already 15-0!

Fun Fact, Rafa has now won 4 titles in Mexico,
Rafa was the youngest player in 2005 to win the Mexcio tournament ( 18 years old)
Rafa becomes the oldest player in 2022 to win the Mexico tournament (35.6 years old)

That means that he has a lot of confidence. So when is the first chance that he face Novak? MC ???
MC is unlikely, due to the restrictions to get into France, (and it IS actually played in France,) unless the regulations changed a lot in the next month. Also, Rome big question mark. Could be Madrid, but I think we've all voted he skip Madrid, anyway.

3 Hard Court titles to start 2022 makes Rafa Nadal the second Open Era man in the 25/25 club,25 titles on both hard and clay.

Lendl 32 hard, 28 clay
Nadal 25 hard, 62 clay.

Indian Wells will be interesting to watch because Rafael Nadal is the favorite to win the 1st Masters 1000 tournament of the year. Also, Dominic Thiem is scheduled to return in action.

Cameron Norrie is the defending champion. The good thing is that Norrie will not lose any points he gained from winning IW last October as those points will not officially drop until October! So, he can certainly enter the Top 10 if he produces another strong outing at IW.

Lendl narrowly missed of being the only male tennis in history to win at least 30 single titles in three different surfaces

32 on Hard, 32 on Carpet and 28 on Clay

Meanwhile, Connors is the only male tennis player in history to win at least least 40 single titles in two different surfaces

43 on Hard and 45 on Carpet

With Norrie making the final at Mexico did he improve his ranking at all?

It's good to see the Rafa's fans back on top again. Less Trolls more intelligent competitive Banter discussion. Life is good again.. There's balance in the Force again.

This is very good intel. I also noticed that Thiem is meant to come back at IW. That should be interesting to see how he's doing. I expect a lot of rust, though. He could do with an easy couple for first rounds.

Somehow I'm guessing he'll head for IW as asap, to play a little golf while he rests, though the lure of the beach in Acapulco might keep him there a few extra days. (I would.)

Why rush to California, Tequila is a lot cheaper in Mexico
