There are lights on the 4 show courts this year, including Phillipe Cartrier.

It was my understanding that the lights are simply for day matches that take longer to complete, or are they actually scheduling night sessions at Roland Garos this year like both USO and the AO regularly do?

But does that mean they have to close the roof, or that they keep it open-air, just with lights? At Wimbledon, they have to close the roof to put the lights on.

Correct I did post that earlier in another post, the lights on the 4 main show courts this year will only be on if the matches take longer to complete there are no night matches schedule for 2020.2021 they plan to have night matches.

Thanks for posting this... Great answers as usual but he seems to be a little down or sad or is it just me?

Also he kept touching his nose and eyes and I’m like nooooo it’s one of the ways to get Covid-19! Lol

And if he did get it, you would just have to remind yourself that he has about a 99.999999% chance of survival based on his age! Lol

I know but he would still not be able to play.

Also someone like Dimitrov got very sick for weeks:

"I stayed home for about a month ... I think it's different for everyone. I was not breathing well. I was tired. I had no taste, no smell. Everything you could possibly think of. So it was no fun.

I also thought Rafa was a bit subdued. Its funny he also said that wasn’t in best of shape because he hadn’t played matches in months.

However it has to be strange for him being injury free and not able to play for 5+ months...

I think rested is good.

Ok I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed. Hopefully it's nothing and he picks things up in a strong way and plays some amazing tennis. Yeah the rest might be a good thing. I can't wait to see his matches!

As per Marca (15 hr ago) tomorrow Rafa will head to Paris, where he'll then undergo the compulsory 1st covid test before entering the RG bubble. He'll have to stay in his hotel room at least 24 hours waiting for the results.Only then he'll get his accreditation and be able to train on Thursday.

I was remembering a few years back, around 2014, when Mary Carillo said that Rafa had an instinct for peaking for the 2nd Sunday of RG. In spite of the obstacles, he still does. None of us saw that whitewash coming. What a performance.

Technically, it is the 3rd Sunday, Moxie Remember, RG always starts on a Sunday. Btw, I am just teasing as usual!

For me personally, winning RG without losing a single set at age 34 is probably the most surprising accomplishment this year!

Without dropping a set. 4th time, right? I think that's also a record in the men's game.

Rafa and company did play possum, what with Uncle Toni saying the conditions didn't favor Rafa, Rafa complaining about the balls etc.

On the other hand, I would say some gave Rafa even more incentive, (as if he didn't have it already) by downplaying his chances. Have to say it was almost insulting the pundits saying that the heavier conditions favored Novak, as if to imply that without excessive topspin Rafa couldn't win at Roland Garros. The insinuation that Rafa was not "match tough", and that a closed roof and the cold weather naturally favored others . How in the world would outside weather conditions impact Rafa MORE Than the other players, he's a master of playing in the elements. Plus the closed roof was for red clay for goodness sake. IT's not like the other players had had soo many more clay court tournaments, many of them coming from the the 2 tourney HC season, so they had to adjust to the surface. How many pundits said this year was "different" so Rafa was almost an underdog to many.

The piece of resistance was Goran Ivanisevic, one of Novak's coaches saying publicly "no chance" of Rafa winning this year. WTF was he thinking , I'm sure Carlos Moya showed that clipping to Rafa. :lulz1:
