If you take away the $100million+in prize money and endorsements, 14 slams, an olympic gold and various other accolades then yeah, I'd agree. His career was a waste of time. No doubt he wishes he'd got a job working on a Mallorcan fishing trawler. At the same time, if Federer wins another slam on Sunday then the whole tour may as well retire. Great post AP.
Remember BB and all who "like BB's post" , the operative words I said for " this Rafa fan" his career would be a waste. It's the way I feel and there is no Damn other numeric logic you can post that can tell me I should be content with 2nd place. I am not built like that, sorry its the way I am.

AP, even though I am not in your camp, I fully agree with your sentiments, in view of the operative word "for this Rafa fan". As BB says, clearly Rafa's career is not a waste. But, that does not mean it cannot be a waste in your subjective mind.

p.s. See my signature :)

Even if its sarcasm on your part GSM, I think you respect that I have a right to my opinion.

So, who are the Nadal fans rooting for? While many tend to tolerate Fed more, if he were to win, it would be almost assured that the slam count would be out of reach? If Novak wins, well many of nadal fans least favorite player will take the cake. Who are you rooting for?

Also, this really is meant to be light hearted, so have fun with it. Please! Please!

Nole. He's always my #2 after Rafa. Find him to be very likeable in addition to being a most excellent player

Interesting that you point out your signature. (For those who hide them: "It is not enough merely to win; Others must lose.") It explains why you chase around for the Nadal defeat. The quixotic search for a vindication of the terrible Fedal H2H. I'd challenge A-P the he seriously considers Nadal's career a "waste." As if one person's life accomplishments come down to how they stack up against a single stat. And the same can be said for Federer, btw.

I don't believe that you were joking considering the serious defense you engaged in when your views were attacked by BB and others. :nono

Good logic AP when you apply it to yourself... But when you're placing those demands on someone else... it reads "armchair general" to me. Everyone else is a waste of space unless they're the greatest of all time in their chosen field? Righto. Does Nadal owe you anything? He's probably given you a lot in your role as a fan... clearly not enough.
BB, this is not the same champion I have followed the past decade. Regardless of the numerous highs and lows of Roger, would he or Sampras ever say , " I lack confidence" or the rest of these unacceptable quotes that Rafa says. Listen to all the former pros most recently Evert, the first thing she speaks about is Rafa providing a blueprint to his opponents, that he isn't a confident player. This guy doomed himself for this year, who does that.
If that forehand lands deeper and with more bite again it won't make a difference what he says about his confidence or lack thereof though. ;) And the slam count debate will never be an open and shut case anyway. Even if Fed had won 18 it would always be possible for some party pooper to claim that if the pre/open - open divide in mens tennis hadn't butchered it's history both Laver and Rosewall would have more than 20.

But even though I know that you're at least partly talking in jest, it's nevertheless a reminder of what a loser I am for being a Wozniacki fan. If ever she would win just ONE slam it would have me fistpump like Connors and doing my complete repertoire of James Brown moves around my television screen. And here we have someone who claims (albeit in jest) that 14 is a waste of a career. :cry

;)

Yeah, the Wozy shipped might have to wait til Rena retires, Pova or Mika are unable to perform or etc. That lady wozy just don't have it..being True Grit or real killer instinct..everyone isn't born with it inside of them. Rafa had it but really have to put his being injury prone behind and get back in "War"mode.

Woz is having a good career - a very good career even by 'normal' standards, but I'm under no illusion. Winning a slam is out of her reach - Serena or no Serena. The Woz from the 2014 YEC could be a contender, but I haven't seen her since. I'm not sure that Rafa's problems are only mental though. Perhaps he feels a bit (or a lot) of wear and tear on his body which prevents him from doing things that previously came naturally to him. And that can than also have an impact on what's going on between his ears of course. I'm only guessing, obviously. But it's possible.

He should go back to his Conan the barbarian look. Long hair, headband, sleeveless shirt. The sight of it alone would have most opponents shitting their pants.;)

It's all in the emoticons.

:snicker = You people are so silly.

:hug = But I love you anyway.

:popcorn = Waiting for responses.

:ras: = But I know I won't like it.

:speechless: And I will respond accordingly.

At least that's how I read it. Correct me if I'm wrong Carol.
