Well at least Serena hasn't lost any points. She will increase her lead over everyone else concerning ranking.

I'll have to catch the repeat! I hear it was "beat down city" with Kvitova bludgeoning the ball! Bout time she took one from Serena! :p :nono :dodgy:

It wasn't very pretty on Serena's part and aside from the hiccup at the end where Serena broke her, Petra played very well. Let's see what this win does for Petra. The problem with Petra has always been sustaining momentum.

I just wish I knew where all this hyperbole comes from concerning Serena and her invincibility on clay! If that were the case, why has she only won 2 FO's? Even Sharapova's done that and I have no respect for her game; bash and bash some more! :p :nono  :dodgy:

Maria is really, really bad at defending titles. She has never defended any of the slam finals and I really to not expect her to defend the FO.

I think you are a little delusional, there was no talk of Serena being "invincible" on clay. In fact EVERYONE acknowledges that the clay season and the French would be her most difficult part of the season because of her career record on clay, but, make no mistake, she has been pretty impressive on the surface over the last three years.

Two French Opens or not, she has as many as Martina N., more than Billie Jean and only one less than Monica and Arantxa won in their careers.

Pretty impressive if you ask me.

Wow! Kusnetsova! Where did this come from!? Way to go! Knocked the Screaming Banshee o-u-t! :clap

Yeah well - wasn't Serena very vocal today as well? - I would however never call her names and post condescending comments about her - But hey - It's always easy for some frustrated people to post completely unnecessary hateful comments when anonymous :) - One can wonder how these people are doing in real time - Do they lack love and appreciation?

That said - Sveta did a fabulous match while Masha not so much :( - Well done Sveta!! :clap

And when I'm at it - Wow! Kvitova! - Where did this come from!? - Way to go!- Well done Petra! - A blinding match - The serving was superb!! :clap :clap (see it's that easy to post a respectful comment)

Well, there's an easy explanation. I don't respect Sharapova that much. Her shrieking levels have made her matches unwatchable. I'm not going to beat this dead horse. I'll probably mention often that I think Sharapova's shriek is chaeting so you can skip over my posts if you like. :snicker

I am confused about what hyperbole I was using? I acknowledged Serena sucked and Petra was awesome. Truth be told, no one is invincible, and I certainly don't think my post that you quoted stated as much that I was saying she should be. 2014 was a clear case of her not being invincible. Now, Serena should be the favorite in any match she plays as she is the number 1 player in the world, but I would never guarantee her for the win.

Not you but plenty of other people! They're already giving her GOAT status; others around here and some of those so called experts on TCC! :dodgy:

I don't think Ive read once that anyone claimed Serena was anywhere near her best on clay let alone invisible. It's always been her weakest surface and her level on clay dropped after she won her elusive second R.G.

If you're frustrated about being deemed a GOAT that's another far more subjective conversation.

Fans and detractors alike would agree, while Serena is still dangerous on clay, she's not invincibe.

*shrug* - To have a subjective and personal opinion about Masha - her shrieking and whatnot is one thing and your prerogative - No one forces you to watch her matches - The name calling is however unacceptable and completely uncalled for - There is no reason what so ever to post insulting comments about any WTA player - Didn't your parents teach you common decency?

Oh get off your high-falutin'-horse. I have no desire to have tea and crumpets with you. I'll call 'em like I see 'em. Sharapova's screaming/shrieks are way over the line and she won't be missed when she is finally gone from the tour. If you're gonna root for a low-caliber player like Shriekapova, then be prepared to take the complaints as well. Didn't your parents teach how to be a bit tougher? Why don't you just jump right over my posts? That'll be just fine and dandy with me.

I don't find myself often agreeing with you, but I'm with you on this. I really don't like Maria, both the public personality and the player. That being said I think that attacking someone for being loud on court is kind of over. At this point the players who make those noises really can't change it. It would disrupt their game. I also think it's really kind of just a way for people to criticize a player they don't like. Nadal makes a moaning sound when he hits the ball but I never hear anyone comment on it.

If you want to say you dislike a player's demeanor, shot selection, attitude...youre discussing something they have control over. If you would to discuss the sound that comes out of their body when they are hitting the ball absolutely as hard as they can then you're kind of discussing something they no longer have control over. It's silly and its tired.

Sveta is a very talented player who has underachieved because of her mental game.I think she is the most talented claycourter on tour and used to go toe to toe with Justine at RG.

I would be the first to jump on a nadal stinks bandwagon, but a moan and screech are two different things. Nadal's inability to serve in a timely manner is a more on par comparison in terms of annoyance for spectator and opponent.

That's completely subjective. I'm not really THAT annoyed by either sound. Once you've listened for a few minutes it kind of disappears. Either way I think if you asked either person to stop making the sound it would disrupt their game. It's a moot point and complaining about it is silly. Complain about their shots or, like you said, waiting too long to serve.

Serena doesn't look that upset going off the court. Wonder if she just didn't want to withdraw because she did that last year.
she said in her interview that she felt exhausted during the match...maybe that Vika match took a lot out of her.She has been very active since AO15 going to Argentina for fed cup, then IW15,Miami,fed cup in Italy playing all her matches incl doubles....whereas Patra took two months off and was the fresher of the two...:popcorn

But there's a significant volume difference. As annoying Vika is too, Masha sounds like she is being attacked every time she hits a shot. Not all sounds are the same level of intrusion both tonally and in decibels.
