My q/final picks are

Serena,Maria,Halep and Garcia.

I'm torn between Halep and Ivanovic, I must say.

Yep me too. Ana was impressive today in win against Pavs
I liked the way Simona turned her game around against Sabine
Look it would not surprise me if Ana wins.....though I stick with Simona
Ana has too much fire-power for Simona.
Straight set victory fo Ana.
But then I predicted Petra....

We shall see.:)

So far many of the matches have gone to true to form. Ana vs Simona a tough call. Working for nearly 11 hours today at the paper, so did not see any matches. I will give the nod to Ana versus Simona, just on gut instinct, really like both of them. I have seen Ana play and when she is right I am amazed at the power and velocity of her game, coming from such a slender frame!:)

I did make mention after her game....Ana needs to put some weight on.

I'm increasingly convinced that the women's power is not from weight. While height has a certain advantage, as to wing-span, I don't believe that weight adds enough power to say so. Whereas it does add stress on joints. You can look at smaller powers like Henin, as a place to start. Court IQ, placement, and great shot-making go a long way. If you don't have the shots, I don't see that putting weight behind them will gain much. Players that do carry some weight, and rely on it, I can respect. A player like Ivanovic might add weight in muscle mass, but not much. Weight, for the sake of it, is just a stress on the joints, and can drag a player down.

Ana's playing weight to me was better in 2008 when she won RG.I noticed when Ana was being coached by Nigel Sears thats when she dropped weight.I also think a player can put too much muscle on,which can slow their movement in ways.Jankovic is a good example of this when she was being coached by Sanchez,Jankovic had to much muscle mass for her build and it did slow her movement down.I agree with your thoughts weight gain, for the sake of it,is just a stress on joints, and can drag a player down.

^ I think either a player is fit or not. I don't think we should judge their playing weight. Too much attention is paid to women and weight. If they're playing well, I think we should assume that they are at a good place for their game.

I agree with your comment that too much attention is given to women regarding their weight.
Though on many of the other tennis sites the question has been raised regarding Ana and her loss of weight.I was just making my personal observations regarding Ana.Ana is playing so far this year with consistant results, hopefully it will continue.

Serena has withdrawn. Petra moves into SF w/ a walkover.

Li up two breaks against Sharapova: 5 -2. Na is so much better on clay, really surprised pova actually won the French considering her movement.

And the first set to Na 6 -2. I would be surprised if this would not end in two sets. Then again, this is the WTA and pova knows how to fight at least.

She played and moved better in 2012. Because of a few upsets, she also had a pretty light draw if I remember correctly.

Li delivers one of her famous choking acts and dumps the 2nd set breaker all while Maria isn't playing that well. We're heading to a decider.

Maria completes the comeback 6-3 in the decider. Great fight from her, but Li really went away and became an UE machine.

Wow. Li had that match. I'd love to know what Carlos said to her after the match.

Preposterous performance in the second and third by Na really
