Yikes. I've never seen Carlos make so many errors or serve so poorly. Despite that, he should have won it in straights and now he's likely going down in the decider.
He's gotta work on his serve. Great match! They're calling it the birth of a rivalry, and it could be. Carlos had the early break in the 3rd. Disappointing for anyone to lose a match like that, but I think Carlos will survive a little easier.

Yeah, that could be “a good defeat” in that it brings him back down to earth (if he needs it) and anyway, removes the scrutiny from him, somewhat. He’ll benefit from this…

None can play excellent every single match and tournament, sometimes it's because them or the opponent. I don't think it was a great match but not a bad one either. All the predictions were wrong, "Novak or Alcaraz will be the winners"....well... both had to go home and very fast, just after the first match, ouch

I don't know if he exactly needs to come down to earth, but I figured he's still 18, which is the world is your oyster kind of age, and he does have that Miami trophy to cuddle up to, whereas Korda, at 21 might take it harder. I think it could help Seb, this win, and I just don't think it hurts Carlos.

So agree, that match was on his racket of Carlos. I had him winning this trophy and this is how he responds to the pressure?

As to that other 18 year old loser, Holger Rune, he was a break up early in the 2nd set, foolishly lost it and broke Ruud back twice more to stay even until he folded worse than an origami to lose 7-6(5) 7-5. This was after losing a 3-0, 4-2 and 5-3 leads in the first set TB and muffing an overhead at 5-3! Norwegian flag raised over the body of the fallen vanquished Danish warrior.

I am done with these teenagers who can’t live up to the expectations I have of them. Done!

Now they are just acting like typical teens. :fire-extinguisher:

Meanwhile, Felix is getting clowned by the local shotmaker Musetti. He better be very careful. He's about to have his 3rd consecutive first round exit.

I just finished watching on replay Korda v Alcaraz
I though Korda handled the wind, conditions better and also he likes the clay
Korda deserved his win today.Alcaraz will survive this loss.
In regards to a draw remember it is on paper only.

Korda learned his lesson from his match against Nadal earlier this year at IW. He was down a break in the 3rd set and he fought back and win the match. Hopefully, this win will give some mental confidence going forward into the Clay season.

FAA after his good start in 2022 has come back down to earth with a 'thud' I know clay isn't his best surface,I feel he needs to get as much 'clay play' he can, maybe enter a smaller clay tournament, I noticed Toni was watching him today.

He needs to learn point construction, patience, and learn when to be aggressive on his FH, and when to play defense.

His fhand really let him down big time in the match,he has a good clay coach in Toni and I hope he sticks with him
Maybe he could get a WC into Barcelona if it is not too late

He is scheduled to play Serbia Open so I do not think he can take a WC in Barcelona...
