The umpire Cedric M most likely will gets some extra vacation time for that miscue..Obi Wan was killing the Dirt :devil up to that point.

Just more reason to HATE RAFA's GUTS! He's such a jerk; a true lack of class and gamesmanship have been his rep from the beginning! :puzzled :nono :cover - - - - http://fiero4251.blogspot.com/2016/08/fan-page-novak-nole-djokovic.html - -

Fiero..he didn't see it was out..the linesman called it out.when the umpire overruled and pointed to the mark. It would've been difficult for Rafa overrule it at that point or to give a point when he didn't see the mark. Come on fiero you know you can't give away a point when you didn't see the mark..Rafa is a class act, even Annacone said it. He seen more Rafa matches live then most humans

I don't understand why the linesperson didn't show the mark to the umpire. Soon as he saw Cedric looking at the wrong mark, why didn't he get out of his chair and show him the correct mark?

KS I don't think that a lines person is allowed to question or challenge the judgement of a higher on court officials such as an umpire. It's unfortunate

Yes you probably right. Maybe they can't. I just remember seeing the linesperson and the umpire looking at a mark together in the past

It's not Rafa's job to know which mark to look at. I've never had the impression of anything other than genuine sportsmanship from him; I'm not really sure where you're coming from.

And let's not take away from his achievement. That one point may have come at an important moment, but it did not decide the match.

Could well have decided the set though. 4-2 up for Goffin versus 4-3 and then broken and back on serve. Cedric should be banned for a few matches till he gets glasses.

Based on the last two match score lines, the Spanish Bull looks to be rounding into form.

A poster on tennis.com made this post "Just lost ALL RESPECT for Rafa nasal. He CHEATED David goofing. No tennis professional doesn't know when he has hit A BALL THAT FAR OUT. Shame on you Rafa".

Very true that any professional tennis player knows damn well they hit a ball out when it's 6 inches wide of the line. This was no mere fraction of a centimeter wide of the line. The replay showed it was well out. The crowd rightfully booed Nadal and he knows it unless his eyesight has become as bad as Mourier's.

Then we can say the same thing about Federer when a drunk woman yelled "out" a good ball of Kyrgios and he didn't say anything and getting the point, is it not to CHEAT?

Uh duh, the same thing happened to him in that match which you've conveniently chosen to forget. Roger lost a point due to crowd disruption too so that's called evens.

The crowd didn't boo Rafa, they're jeering the umpire.

^ It was both. But it was 100% Nadal they were booing after he came back on court at the start of set 2.

Very good point..Carol..Roger had a choice to replay the point. Rafa didnt see the spot regardless of what this misguided tosser Front says. Rafa is as fair as guys can be.. Front is the only one making a cow about it because it's how Front is built. He responds to one call which I admit changed the direction of the match but it wasn't match point or as critical as when that drunk lady yelled out at Miami. Those two events are mutually exclusive. Look at what the other posters say not some bias fan.

Nope..it's was jeering the umpire. Front, since you know some damn much , You say Rafa should go over to the umpire and say I clearly saw the mark although you were 35 feet closer. Give me a break ..Front..

LOL, sure I'm the only one making "a cow" about it. Do some reading on other sites such as tennis.com and Youtube. I never said it was match point but Nadal was getting soundly beaten till that point so it was very much a huge issue. Goffin lost the plot after it and reading the nonsense that Nadal is back to his best is puke making and delusional. He and his fans know that is very much not the case. This is the easiest Masters 1000 draw he's likely to ever get. Nadal is not fair or sporting btw in case you've forgotten him bumping into Rosol like a thug.

Oh and naturally because Nadal wasn't sporting enough about that point, I'm a tosser. That makes perfect sense. As was pointed out already, a top player knows damn well when they've hit a ball 6 inches wide so I guess there is a tosser in question alright, but it's not me.

No, I'm not saying that, I'm saying he knew damn well it was long regardless of not being able to see the mark.

Rafa is a competitor, Millions of fans admire his competitive spirit even Federer. Rosol has only a few fans including you and whomever gave birth to him. Ask Murray, Federer, Djokovic whom they respect Rafa or your beloved Rosol.
