Baptise had SP in the 1st set TB and let it slip, invited Osaka back into the match
Osaka won in 3 sets 76(6) 36 64
She lost the same way to Banshee last week by the same score in the decider 6-4. She's still green. When she gets tired of feeling these stings from losses that should be wins, she'll do something about it. Naomi was lucky. Playing somebody else she would've been packing.

Unlike the four mens IW semifinalists who lost their opening matches in Miami today
All four woman semi finalists are very much In :)

Worrying signs for Badosa with her lower back problems in her match against Tauson, having to have MTO
Badosa comes through 63 76(3)

Iga is now having problems trying to serve out her match against Mertens she was up 5-2 and now Mertens will be serving to force a TB for the 1st set
It would help Iga's cause if her balls dont land midway on the court, it is an easy put away for any player, also her serve is landing too short halfway up the net
Iga won the 1st set 76(2) 61

Just watching this youngster Eala who has been at the Rafa Academy and apparently still based there, playing Keys, loved the way she is aggressive on the return of Keys 2nd serve, standing in the court to return, hasnt got a great serve, though being a lefty she can use her serve to her advantage against a right handed player especially in the deuce court.
Eala has gone off the court for MTO, said to the trainer she has a upper leg issue ( thigh)
Play as restarted with Eala with a SP, maybe the break for Keys wasnt to her advantage, foot work a bit sloppy
Eala wins the 1st set 64
Madison has got to take the ball on, not wait for the ball to come to her, got to get those feet moving
Eala has neutralized Keys serve so far today, able to get down low.with the return
Madison DFs and Eala breaks, Eala is really pressuring Keys on her serve and paying off with results in this match
Eala 4-2 2nd set
Madison No a Djoko smash at the net
Eala leads 5-2 2nd set, Madison out of sorts today, her serve is off, feet slow, her inside out fhand is about the only thing she has on her side in this match
Eala wins 64 62 well done Eala a well deserved win, Madison just out of sorts today, not taking anything away from Eala
I am certain Rafa will post a "congrats and well done to Eala" on social media, after her great win today!

Keys is still in Oz heaven. She probably needed to play Austin or Merida so she wouldn't come to the Sunshine doub ice cold

Maybe she is still in Oz heaven though she was outplayed by the WC Eala today full credit to Eala, Eala also took out Ostapenko in SS in her first match, will play Badosa next

As I thought Rafa Nadal has come on social media to congratulate Eala, who is still I believe training at his academy, originally from the Phillipines
Eala left home at the age of 13 to train at Rafa's academy
Eala won the junior girl singles at the USO 2022

I didn't see the match but full credit to her. We know Keys m.o. though. She often plays down to the level of her opponent. As to the youngster, she's been at Nads academy for 7 years. Speaks perfect English and is very likeable.

1st TB the match between Andreeva v Anisimova
Nothing much between these 2 players in the TB, Mirra had to use all her defensive powers, Amanda is a lovely pure stricker of the ball with aggression.Mirra to me is the better mover in this match up. Mirra did have a MTO early in the 1st set, with sharp stomach pains.
Amanda with SP and she wins 76(5)
Mirra gets the break in 2nd set, as Amanda DFs
Mirra 5-2
Mirra fights back in the 2nd set especially with her serve, wins 62 more solid than Amanda
Going 3
Amanda gets a break and consolidates her break with a good fhand winner, her bhand her better shot has also been good so far
Amanda leads 3-1
Amanda had 2 BPs but could not convert to go up a double break, good tough hold from Mirra
Amanda leads 5-3 a very grueling and exhausting match for both players, the winner plays Emma Raducanu
Mirra with a DF brings up MP for Amanda
Anisimova d Andreeva 76(5) 26 63 in a battling 3 set match.Good gutsy win for Amanda
Mirra I would not be disappointed,as a 17 yo won back to back WTA1000 go have a well deserve break and see you in the clay season
