I'm becoming more and more convinced that FAA just doesn't have "it" - whatever "it" is, that differentiates the Gasquets and Dimitrovs of the world from the true elite guys. I do think he'll win Masters eventually, but hard to imagine him having the mental fortitude to beat Alcaraz, Rune, or Medvedev on route to a Slam.

Right now I see aan ATP 500/Slam QF/SF guy like Rublev: A guy you expect in the QF of a Slam but are unlikely to see in the Final.

Did you hear Martina Navratilova said that Pegasus's BH doesn't have enough bite or variety like E.g. Roger's BH.. Martina says she could fix his slice in 5 minutes..I truly believe it. I was taught how to hit slice once and was able to make it PERFECTO. Surely Stefano's BH can improve

The bigger question is does Papa Pegasus think it needs improvement?

@Moxie ...you were wondering why I think Sinner is a bit "fragile."
To be fair RG

Well it was apparent at final at the AO his BH slice needs to improve,at present to me it is still the same.
Though to be fair his BH today his shoulder problem still isnt 100%, it was well below par.

To be fair, Sinner retired at RG in 2022, year where he was plagued with injury,, sickness, COVID, and in Vienna he retired in 2020
Cahill has taken over as coach now, they are working hard on his physical fitness and strength work in the gym, lets see how he fares in 2023

Ouch, its an ugly way to lose; Felix broke back to get even at 4-4, seemed to have the big Mo at 5-4 , had won like 10 of 12 points just to drop serve again at 5-5 so Cerundolo served it out to win 7-5, despite Felix having at least 1 BP in that last Cerundolo serving game.

Had hopes Felix could do well at Miami, considering he had a good and not particularly exhausting run (reached the qtrs) at Indian Wells.

Its odd, Felix so far hasn’t done exceptionally well at the Masters level, in 32 tries he has reached 2 SF’s.

Add Tiafoe to list of upset victims which really isn't an upset IMO b/c we can't expect today's players to avoid "a bad day at the office!" Fred Stolle

I take your point with the 'mental fortitude of FAA to win a GS' beating players like Alcaraz etc, the glaring stat for me today was the winners to UFE, in the 1st set he could not find the court with his shots, 2 W to 7 UFE.

Was I? Well, we shall see. Same with Alcaraz and any number. I think sometimes injured and "fragile" might be two different things. Rafa has been often-injured, for example, but you wouldn't call him fragile. I would say Nishikori was pretty "fragile," on the other hand. DelPotro and Thiem turned out to be surprisingly fragile. Kyrgios and Coric are in the "often injured" category, but would you call them fragile? I'm holding off on believing that Sinner is too inclined to injury. He's still young.

Sinner is playing very well today. He won the first set 6-2, and is serving at 2-3 in the 2nd.

Interestingly, Martina said she thought the best match of last year was the Sinner/Alcaraz US Open SF, so she’s also picking them as a fiery matchup.

Except in my view I would have preferred Sinner to win lol!

Just looked at Sinner's stats for the 1st set 16 W to 3UFE, such a clean first set from Jannik

Little Hoger in big trouble with Fritz. Already a breakdown in the 2nd set, losing 3-6 in the 1st.
