Wow, Rafa has the most dificult draw so far, I see that the "tennis gods" don't want to help him :nono :( :s :eyepop

He has to help himself, but it's all a good test. If he makes the quarters, anything can happen...

Hmmnn.. No Djoker, Milos and Isner will be gone before this time next week, no 18 year so to be super teenager, . I know Rafa is capable of making it to the qtrs and semis to get a crack at Stan and Murray.. Like Mr K says this is a good test but not as difficult as it could have been

Yeah, I must be looking at the wrong draw, but I can't see that this draw is any tougher for Rafa than any other. First two matches? No. Then possibly Milos? I don't think so. I mean, looking at Rafa this year, any match is a potential banana skin, but it isn't as hard a draw as it could be, if he turns up playing like last week...

I hope Tommy Haas is back playing. His 2nd daughter was born in November 2015 but he's had enough time changing nappies now. He'll be 38 (!) in a few weeks. Time to start playing again before it's too late.

He is not.

Anybody notice Brian Baker is in the draw? I had no idea he planned to return!

He played in the AO as well after nearly 3 years sidelined with another knee injury. Poor guy is so brittle he makes Gilles Simon look like Lou Ferrigno :s

Roger will probably play Delpo as his welcome back...I would not be terribly surprised if Delpo sends him home. Delpo is not a good first rounder for anyone.

Nah. Roger would surgically dispatch him in cruel fashion making him hit backhand after backhand, SABR, drop shots to exploit his poor movement. Even if he's rusty I think Roger would win that comfortably as Del Potro is a shadow of his former self.

I am not even sure Delpo gets to Roger. He plays Pella in the first round, one of the fastest climbers through rankings this season. Pella might be a clay courter, but Miami plays slow and favors the clay courters. Pella has now become the top ranked Argentine, as he just passed L. Mayer.

On his website, he mentioned in his schedule: Deltay, IW and Miami. He skipped all of them.

Well, he could have Sock or Raonic (this last one if he plays like in the IW final then it's ok, Rafa is saved) then Wawrinka or Isner or maybe kyrgios and then Muzz or Nishi, I don't see the draw so easy
Meanwhile in the other side of the draw, Novak, Berdych, Ferru and Federer who after his recent knee surgery surprisedly is playing so early and having Delpo as the first opponent who has been long time out of the courts but has played already in two tournaments and training for long time before, so I wouldn't bet not even one dollar for Roger.

Real shame. Seems he's not injured and just taking time off. Probably his last year on tour I'd imagine.

You wouldn't bet one dollar for Roger :D Have more faith in him :p You can't buy much with one dollar anyway :D Make a bet!

Youngsters Elias Ymer and Andrey Rublev received wildcards into the main draw. I believe it is their first appearances in the main draw of a Masters.

EDIT: Actually, Rublev made it to the 2R last year of the Miami Masters, after defeating Pablo Carreno Busta in the 1R.

Federer said he is keeping a close eye on Rublev. I am curious to see him play.

The draw is out. Djoke gets Fed. Andy, Nadal, and Wawrinka in the same half. Nadal has the toughest path, in my opinion.

Really? Do you have a link? I thought I was the only one who was singling out Rublev as a possible future star. I really like what I see, but haven't seen anyone else say anything. If Roger says it, I'll feel validated ;)

Incredible but true, yesterday here in Miami was 90 degrees and today the temperature has dropped to 50's and since this Wednesday we will be 80's but with rain until the next Wednesday, and we'll see the rest of that week, ugh! :nono

I just saw the draw and . Soooooo predictable. Isn't it supposed to be "random?" :laydownlaughing

Oh come on. Surely Roger wouldn't be that cruel to his buddy DelPo! He'll just run him from side to side and drop shot him. He'll be nice and only play to the backhand half of the time and let DelPo's wrists continue to heal. :lolz:

Question: Is DelPo still repped by Tony Godsick and Roger's management company? Anybody know? I just assumed that he is since his old coach is now working with the Supreme Waste of Talent Known As Grigor Dimitrov (talk about under-achieving!). Thanks.

How so? :puzzled Even though he's a shell of his former self...he's not going to have any trouble getting through anybody in his quarter. Most of the big names in the bottom half of his quarter will take each other out. Isner and Kyrgios are in Stan's section and will likely play each other with the winner then probably playing Stan. All Nadal has to worry about is Raonic - who frankly shouldn't be that much of a problem for him. He'll then either have to play Isner\Kyrgios or Stan. Kyrgios is probably a bigger nemesis right now than Stan. If Nadal can't get out of this quarter on that slow Miami hard court - he should probably go ahead and start making retirement plans. :lolz: After that he'll most likely have under-achieving Nishikori or Murray. Doesn't seem that difficult to me...but then I don't have to play any of those guys...

I don't have a link. Federer said this a few days before USO 2015. I attended a private function where he answered questions posed by fans. I was surprised he mentioned Rublev because I had never heard of him before. I recorded most of the Q and A so I probably have a clip of him saying Rublev could be a top player.

It's a pretty good mix this time around, except poor Lopez who is in Nole's quarter again. :cover

Andrey Rublev has been mentioned before, in the last 2 years he got exposure not once.
For starters, he has won the junior Roland Garros title in 2014.
That probably led to an invitation to have a training session in Mallorca with Nadal, in October 2014.
Last year he scored his first top 100 wins, against Verdasco, In Barcelona and then Andujar in DC.
Also last year, at the USO, in the ESPN studio, someone, either Brad Gilbert or Patrick McEnroe mentioned him as one they were impressed by, while browsing the young upcoming future stars.
Now, will he live up to the expectations? I don't know. He has gone pro a year before Fritz for example and his climb on the challenger circuit has not been spectacular so far.
Time will tell.
