I expected a much easier day than it was. He's never had any difficulties with RBA before, even on clay last year when he wasn't healthy. RBA played a smart and crafty match and Roger was well off his game for the most part. It will be interesting against Berd. I dug into the H2H and it was 5-5 from 2009-2014 and Roger has now won 6 straight with the last 5 being beatdowns. He's turned it around against Tomas and the Berd hasn't played too well this year so far. But if Roger serves at 49%...it will be tough for sure.
Personally, I think Tomas is beginning to go the way of Ferrer. He's recently dropped out of the top 10 for the first time since late 2003. That's a long run. And there are lots clamoring to get into the top 10. I'm not saying he's done, but I wouldn't be too worried about this Fed v. this Berdych.

Roger comes thru, was a tuff one..completely unexpected

That match was only tough because Roger seemed kind of distracted and tired - especially in the 2nd set - and dare I saw a wee bit bored? :snicker He wasn't playing anywhere near his best - and that's about as good a RBA can play. All things considered, despite the scoreline, to me it didn't FEEL close or tough because you always knew Roger had more gears - and game plans - to shift into.

I actually agree, he seemed lethargic to me the whole match
Maybe he should've taken a injury timeout via AO to have his groin area Massaged.

I think you guys are being a bit unrealistic. He IS 35 years old. He's not going to have it everyday. Just a fact.

Someone said that Rafa has more open the draw and easier opponents. Well, at the present Sock is playing better and is more dangerous than Berdych without any doubt....and the party continues :D

sky has fedster v agut which was an interesting match to view. fedster is 16-1 this season.

Alright. Here comes Nicky and as my good friend AP calls him "Young Luke Skywalker" aka Ewan McGregor.

Well, by far the worst match from Federer in 2017 (yes, including the Donskoy match). Credit to RBA for being tactically smart and solid, as usual, but still a bad showing (relatively speaking) from Federer. He was bound to have a bad match and he was lucky to escape today. The day off will be welcomed. The absurd backhand from AO and IW seems to be falling a bit down to earth (I noticed that already on the JMdP match).

Edit: In fact I had only watched the first set. Just saw a long highlights reel for the second set, it was much better than the first. So I may correct my post and say that it was by far the worst half match from Federer in 2017.

Watching Kyrgios x Goffin, Kyrgios just won the first set tie break. Now I am finally able to identify what always bothered me about his game. It was obvious, but it took a match against a solid player to see it. His ground strokes are terrible. From both wings. Sometimes he (closes his eyes and) fires a winner, but his rally shots are simply terrible. He is a big server with athleticism, and will to go for different shots. It ends up in something different from the average, but there are a lot of holes in his game.

Yes..Obi Wan is destined to be a Jedi Knight (grand slam winner)..if he can get a return of serve like Agassi he will make it to the next level However Nick is the real chosen one. He is Anakin Skywalker, the chosen, one, not Sasha Zverera..my gosh,,these gents are producing some beautiful tennis..they both are playing in a zone:clap

My bad. I don't follow the Jedi Knights. I'm more of a Capt Kirk girl. Besides, he still looks like McFly to me.
