Raonic wraps it up 6-0 6-3 against Zhumhur and proceeds to the quarters where he will meet Nick Kyrgios.

Thiem is almost federeresque in the huge number of break chances he was unable to convert. I think on his eleventh chance he broke Djoker. An angry Serb broke him back rather easily.

Thiem will be serious competition in the years to come. The scoreline didn't tell the whole story. Novak rocksolid when it mattered though.

Novak was channeling his inner Roger, making sure the upstart knows who the big dog is. Seems like just yesterday a brash Novak (and even brasher parents) were storming Fed's throne. Turned out to be a bit premature. ;-):

Exactly right. That was a really fun match to watch. I think Thiem left some 15+ BPs begging, but he was very brave in his challenge of Nole. In the first set, the time required to hold serve was like way over 20 minutes for ND, to about 12 for Thiem. The early nervous break did him in in that set. He'll be looking at the tape of this one with his coach, I would wager. Great effort. I'll be expecting some good results from him in the upcoming clay season, as clay is his preferred surface.

Excellent win for Monfils! I really do think he's trying to commit to more reliable results.

If Monfils always would play so seriously like today....too much talent but little used

I really do believe he's been trying to apply himself more over the last couple of years. More mature, and trying not to squander the last years of his career. In the battle of the flakes, with Dimitrov, he won today, anyway.

Yeah a nice win for Gael, he does seem to be more serious about his tennis these days.

Nice effort by Dominic, I just saw the last half an hour or so of this match and it looked like a bit sloppy, too many unforced errors. Sometimes it goes that way I guess.

Yes, I am sorry but I will be busy for the rest of the week :)

Why not Kyrgios ? I think he is crazy enough just to disconnect the brain and go for a very aggressive and risky tennis. If he play as he played in Marseille and Dubaihe can be very dangerous.
Except him, I cannot see anyone.

I was there when Kyrgios beat Marcos in straight sets. Over the course of two games, he hit six aces in winning two service games at love. He is playing very aggressive, big boy tennis. But, Novak is an altogether different animal. He will, I believe, destroy Kyrgios in straights. His return and court sense will carry him through, plus Nick will overhit and make a ton of errors.

Simon blows set points, rides out break points and then finally the first set 6-3 in his clash with Goffin.
