and she gets her. Swiatek is not in a great place right now.

I guess I shouldn't be shocked! Turned away up a set & 2-3 only to see & hear Swiatek's gone down again! I thought after Osaka she'd be the "heir apparent," but she hasn't kept her confidence up! I saw her as another "Justine Henin," but it doesn't look like she's going to fulfill that promise! Time will tell! :astonished-face::fearful-face::face-vomiting::fearful-face:

BTW for the first time since 2021 WTA Finals, Iga has lost an opening match
Key moment for me was going for the line in return missing on BP, was really down on herself after that
I mean Wim said to her ' Change Something" she just glared
As I have been saying for some time she needs to get rid of her sports psychologist Daria Abramowicz, who has traveled with Iga 24/7 since 2019, she is way too vocal in matches, she is not Iga's coach, I know players have sports psychologist's to ring or go to, but Iga has been on the tour for sometime and too many voices in her ear for starters isnt ideal.
Very sub par to the 2026 season for Iga, lets see how she handles the up coming clay season? she lost on her favorite surface at RG in 2025, can she rebound that is the question? I didnt have Iga going far in Miami on current form, fast low bouncing surface dosent suit her game for starters and again as we saw in IW ball bashing dosent fit Iga's game, also lets see if Wim Fisette is still her coach after Wimbledon this year.

Well, she's won 6 majors already, so I think she's a fulfilled quite a lot of promise to date. We'll see if she can bounce back - interestingly Henin won her seventh and last major when she was around 25 - burned brightly and quickly. I think Swiatek's got more in the tank personally, although I don't think she'll be dominant - there's a lot of good competition around.

At 25 years of age Swiatek should be at her 'peak' this year so far she has 'regressed' to me she is 'over thinking' she needs go back to her game and not ball bash for starters, pretty certain that Wim would not be telling her to 'ball bash'
When a player 'over thinks' they are adding 'undue pressure to their game' thats what is happening to Iga at present and more UFE flow and not able to 'stay in the moment' as well in a match

I forgot, Henin pulled a "Borg" & left out "of the blue!" She got the most out of her game, except dropping that Wimbledon final to Mauresmo! :fearful-face:

Last night match just started
The Teen Queen v McCartney Keelser
Mirra was the defending champion in IW, played a mindless match and let her focus slip away, yelling at her box, also yelling a 4 letter words to fans and she left the court, forgot to add the racqut smash, which I guess goes with the territory, her fhand her weaker shot again lets her down, she really needs to lose that 'extreme grip' she has on her fhand.
Andreeva played a great 1st set 61 and then due to her fhand went down 2-4 clawed her way back and 6 all in the 2nd set TB
Kessler leading 5-2 playing a aggressive TB so far, Mirra too passive
Kessler rewarded for playing well in the 2nd set wins the TB 76(3)
Going
Andreeva re set her game and played like she did in the 1st set
Andreeva (8) defeated Kessler 61 67(3) 61

Rain delay again, though not heavy, I hope it is not going to be 'one of those days in Miami"
Players back on court, the rest of this week the forecast looks good, sunny conditions

Mboko (10) d Blinkova
A really solid performance from Vicky, court coverage and power were on full display
Last year she had her first tour level main draw win here.
Today she is back as a WTA1000 champion and the world #9

Watching Gauff v Cocciaretto
1st set Cocciaretto 63
Coco looks flat to me, also 17 UFE on her fhand, I dont know if her arm issue is a problem, she never gave results she had of the MRI when she had to retire in IW, maybe the MRI didnt show anything.
Gauff wins the 2nd set 64, still has to watch her DFs
Coccoiaretto taking a toilet break
Coco is winning the longer rallies now, was not the case in the 1set set she gets an early break in the 3rd set can she consolidate?
Come on Coco watch your ball toss please another DF
Coco consolidates 4-2, again winning the longer rallies
Gauff d Cocciaretto 36 64 63, Coco far from her best, but stayed strong in the 3rd set when it mattered!

Was not an easy night for Sabalenka she wins 76(5) 64 over Li, she had 7BPs for 5-3 but Li holds 4-4, Saba was up 4-1
