hmmmm... I'm not so sure about that. Do they call it an upset if a Djokovic whose ranking has drifted beats someone temporarily ranked much higher than him?
Chardy is not Djokovic. He is barely in the top 100, while Grigor us # 4

Lol! Which is my point... Grigor is so unreliable that even though he's ranked so highly are any of us even the slightest bit surprised? I would guess no...

Bottom line, as far as myself, I consider it an upset. You call it as you wish.

Man, how many times have I seen Verdasco DF on set/match point?

I had to miss most of that match, and I bet it had a lot of big hitting in it. Maybe catch the re-run. I'd have been happy for either, so I'm pleased for Verdasco. And still a great showing by Kokkinakis. Hopefully this means he's back in the mix. No more injuries, please!

There is a high chance Fed (who fell to Kokk) will receive a wooden spoon in Miami. PCB is the favorite in the next round but ready to lose next if the stars align. If they do up to the final, the first half without Fed is now such a weak draw, so that its finalist will be much poorer player than its bottom opponent (Cilic/Delpo likely), so that the wooden spoon direction will be complete.
That would be probably unprecedented. Nadal already received a wooden spoon in AO couple years back (when he lost in first to very uneven Verdasco) but Fed has never been is such situation.

^ I'm unfamiliar with this expression "wooden spoon."

As Nadal's fan you should start by reading the story of his wooden spoon I've mentioned above:
http://www.tennisworldusa.org/tenni...fael-nadal-wins-australian-open-wooden-spoon/
It means an "absolute bottom" result by a given player in the draw. He lost in first, his conqueror lost in second, etc., all the way to the final.
I don't think there was a precedence in ATP that the current #1 would receive wooden spoon.

That's hilarious, and kind of quaint. I wonder who named it? Does it mean you get spanked with it?

Sasha v. Ferrer coming up. This may test Zverev's resolve.

Kyrgios twitted

He said " I hope TK wins the match, Verdasco is the saltiest dude, must be frustrated at his past success against aussies" but he deleted right after
Then Verdaso twitted Kyrgios......
