I didn't catch the Keys Sloane match, but am surprised by the result. When I expressed excitement over Keys at AO, I did not mean that she was going to immediately play like a top player. I predicted that she would get to the top sometime in her career. I still believe this because she has the head and heart to get there.

I am impressed by Vika and Woz. Hoping they continue playing well.

Serena's knee must be better. Cheering for her to capture number 21 at FO.

I don't think it's so much that she needs to immediately play like a top player but rather live up to her ranking. The problem with upstarts with only one great result under their belt is that they have all this pressure and kind of don't know how to play week to week. If you're suddenly world number 16 you should be making the 4th round consistently not making the SFs of one slam and then sinking into mediocrity. It's the same story with Genie. She's almost top 5 because she consistently makes the QFs or better of all the slams but then goes out constantly in the first or second round of everything else. The key is learning to win week by week.

Was Serena's match originally scheduled for Friday evening and then got postponed to Saturday
due to inclement weather?

Serena was supposed to play Friday night vs Niculescu. It rained all afternoon so matches got pushed to Saturday. One extra day to mend the knee. Not bad.

RE: Miami Masters 2015

I didn't realize Keys had cried at the changeover during her Stephens match. Things are not looking good for her right now. Perhaps your first tournament after your slam run shouldn't be an almost slam level tournament in your home country. Hopefully she can go back and play some smaller tournaments and get that confidence back.

I watched the match. It looked like Caroline had nothing on her shots. Maybe it was the wind.

RE: Miami Masters 2015

What was the conversation between Niculescu and her first coach?
"You know Monica, you have a 80 mph first serve, and no discernible real weapon, but that forehand slice isn't bad, maybe you can confuse, frustrate and aggravate folks with it'

You know what, kudos to her for finding something she can work with:s

I just don't understand what is going through Genie's head when she's playing matches outside of Grand Slams. It's so bizarre that at slams she find a way to win and win and win and at other events she can't get past a player ranked outside the top 100.

I just dont understand why Serena struggles with Niculesu and Venus doesnt.Their IW match was not their first match...they played at the AO13 and Serena aggravated her ankle because of the spins and trickery and went on to lose to Scone..#3-0

No matter how many times I watch it, Niculescu's funky style amazes me. Has to be very frustrating to play her. [/size]
