Nobody discredits Thiem, he is good but when he wins a MS then I will change my mind but beating a player that has played three or four matches since January and playing his WORST I thing he is overrated.
Hey Front, Nadal had nothing to do with my comment but now that you have said that I remember.....he was playing his best too LOL

What a poor memory you have. Your post did have to do with Nadal actually. See below.

PS: Thiem is number #7 in the live rankings so he can't really be overrated.

I don't know if anybody is taking away from Thiem's win yesterday, but it's fairly obvious that Federer is rusty, and so this had to have an impact on the result. It's not an excuse, or a putdown of DT, it's a fact...

Carol is the only one discrediting him but I like Thiem and he's a very good player and no matter how rusty Federer was it shows how good Thiem is to race to 5-0 in set 2. He bottled it after that but he's still playing very well.

AND? tell me now that Rafa was playing well, really? who is discrediting to whom? what about later, the next time that they played against?
Thiem is a good player, he could have a great future or maybe not (he is going to be soon 23) but he has still to show that he can beat a player who is also playing his best, I haven't seen that yet :cover

Is this a question for kindergarten kiddies or what? Clearly you're discrediting Thiem by saying Nadal was playing "his worst". No he wasn't. Can he play better? Of course. But try using different words when Nadal loses 'cos just 'cos he loses a match doesn't mean he played "his worst". He hits the ball very hard and a lot of players have had trouble against him already. He had a ton of break points against Novak a month ago but couldn't convert but he's clearly very good.

OK I READ. NO NEED TO SHOUT. So what, he's not good 'cos he didn't beat Novak? Right. Makes sense. Bottom line is if he beats Federer and Nadal he's very good. Enough of the nonsense.

I'm not talking about Novak, I'm saying that winning 6 titles (250?) doesn't say too much to confirm he will have a great future. Only the time will tell us

Why did I mention Novak? I'll tell you why. You said you haven't yet seen him beat anyone playing their best. Well, since Federer and Nadal haven't played their best in years then it's clear he's never gonna beat them anymore playing their best. Can they still play well ? Of course. But to prove that he's good that leaves basically only Novak or Murray according to that logic since they're the only two playing very well right now. I agree about your last line, only time will tell how well his future goes but being number 7 already is pretty good imo.

Nice hitting from both guys after the long rain delay. Looks as though they're going to a tiebreaker.

Dominic wins, in 3 sets: 6-7, 6-4, 6-4.
Now he has won titles on each and every surface.
:clap

Now he really has to slow down. It is insane to play 30 events / year. He will burn out.

Congrats to Thiem on following up RG with a title win! That is what I like to see. I hope he pulls out of Halle.

I suspect he won't pull out by instead might bailout. All in all match time on the grass is invaluable but I agree with the overriding sentiment that he should like at easing his schedule now that he should legitimately be looking at the latter end of tournaments and focussing on preparation instead of accumulation (the latter of which he has done very well to this point)

Very impressive week for Thiem. Interested to see how he fares at Wimbledon.
