I understand many people dislike Kyrgios's approach to playing tennis and all, but I personally find such a level of enthusiasm interesting and welcoming.

I really doubt that. I would be interested in a Nishi - Murray semi, that would be a really good test for both of them I think.

I feel that Andy should have Raonic's number on clay. If he does indeed reach Kei/Daveed in the semi final, I wouldn't necessarily fancy his chances, especially against Nishikori.

I expect so too, but I agree with Denis here: raonic matches are not something to look forward to, Murray Nishi, however, would be. I think Andy is looking fine, though, and he's slightly under the radar too, compared to Nishi. That would be a scrap to savour...

Perhaps for you guys. I'd personally much rather watch a Raonic match where he loses to Murray than a Nishikori match where he beats Andy =).

Too bad I won't catch the semis this weekend or the final because I'm off walking and camping...

What I found interesting in the outcome of the Isner - Kyrgios match is how John was able to win more points on Nick's service s games than Roger did.
Was John ROS game improved so much that is now actually better than Roger's?
Or just Roger's was unusually bad.

While Justin Gimelstob may be a lousy commentator, he seems to be working well with JIsner. He is attacking his returns in a way I have never seen from the big guy before.

I think the anti Kyrgios contingent is quite high on this board, he is an unwanted punk IMO

Ok, I started this (at least on this thread), so here's a disclaimer: nothing against the guy (which is irrelevant anyway), just never thought he was such a wunderkind. Before the match I almost posted that I was sure Federer would crush him, and that would be my second completely wrong Federer prediction in a row. And when I posted I was a bit upset...

Maybe the kid is in fact that good. Time will tell. I need to see more of his matches to make a better assessment, anyway.

That's very interesting. I think a bit of both. Roger didn't seem too great at reading the serve at all. And of course, Nick may have served better against Roger, too...

You know, we all have preferences. I hated Mac and Connors, and never liked Agassi. I agree with you on your scepticism about Nick, though, and we only have to look at his failure to raise his game yesterday. He might be a bloke who plays to the gallery in big matches, then hasn't a clue how to knuckle down in the relatively smaller games. I know Steve Tignor said this today on tennis.com, but it's hardly a new observation. Nick could go either way in his career, and the naysayers may yet have the final laugh at him...

Roger mentioned he was struggling returning Nick's first serve.
I was wondering rather how John was able to, because I know folks will not tune in to watch his matches. But John's stats look not bad for him. The fact itself he was able to break Nick twice is remarkable.

For now, he plays the perfect spoiler.

Rafa v Grigor soon. Grigor is #11 in the world, and a valid test for Rafa on his way back to full form. Two years ago, Grigor upset Novak at the same event. Anyone see an upset happening today?

During Grigor's match with Stan, it seemed the Bulgarian contingent were out to support him. Poor Stan (out there in his undershorts again), had fans yelling even while he was trying to toss the ball.

But I'm pretty sure Ralf's cohort will be the majority today.

A shakey hold by Grigor, I thought Rafa had a good chance to break immediately. But that'll settle Dimi.

Are they still using models for ballgirls in Madrid?

I almost feel sorry for Baby Fed's backhand already...
