Man...just came home to catch the very last point...wow...I saw the first 3 games, and the last point. I have no idea what took place in between, but congrats to Nick, I guess.

Roger was defending nothing, lost nothing, except some confidence I guess.

Any ball basher can give Roger problems on clay. At this point he might as well play Rome, it's not like he's played much on clay this year. And for Roger despite humiliating losses like this it is all about Wimbledon and USO

It was first strike tennis; maybe not at it's best, but a very competitive match! Very impressive for the kid! He overcame his demons and got through it! Congrats! :clap

Roger can't return or defend like before so a big game can cause him problems everywhere, especially on clay. Rough start to the season for Roger overall but fast courts lie ahead soon.

I was expecting an early exit for Roger in Madrid (although not this early). My guess is that
he will play Rome now. May be it is all for good.

I only watched the TB of 3rd set. So, I cannot really comment on what happened in the match.
But, I am happy for an youngster making waves, taking out both Rafa and Roger out in his first
attempt. I just hope, his career does not end up like Nalby's who did the same.

Even though the kid was in control from the beginning of the match, Roger wasn't giving him much in the way of UFE's! They had some very long points that Federer eeek'd out at very crucial times! Roger didn't lose this as much as had it snatched by the end! :dodgy: There will be more upsets; mark my words! Not shocked here at all! :p :ras:

as much as it hurts, and even though i'm still somewhat skeptical about him: nice to see another big W (of sorts) for Kyrgios. as vulnerable as Fed is (to a game like his, on clay, his age, whatever...) the important think about the win for Kyrgios should be that in the end, he did hold his nerve when he was tested.
now if he follows up with some stable play (just solidly beat who you're "supposed to" beat), maybe he will really find his way to deliver results worthy of the hype that came last year.

Damn, i was hoping to see Rafa and Fed meet.

Yep. It's been a long time (since I've rock & rolled ...), and I was looking forward to it as well.

Yeah, You missed Roddick says if he has a son, he is going to name him Novak after his favorite tennis player
