Exactly. There's nothing until the next year, so why not finish the season with a big final?

I know it's off-topic, but my two cents:

As a player, I would want a day off prior to playing a best of 5. So if they can fit it into the schedule, I would prefer them playing the knockout phase of the tournament in best of 5, with a day off before a best of 5 semifinal, then a day off before a best of five final. Round robin group elimination can remain as it is, with best of 3.

No, it's not a major, but prestige wise, reward wise for the players, it is the closest thing to it, as many players have said in the past.

I think that since they slowed down every surface and turned them all into similar rally-fests, it might become difficult to play Bo5 a day after playing the semis. It was never an issue before, and I hope they look at bringing it back again...

Yeah, for the final that would be a good idea. We wouldn't have had that Fed-Nalbandian classic if not for the 5-set match.
