Here is an article which explains how the structure is going to work. No idea how the money or points work. What do you think, people?

Nice opportunity for Tiafoe, but are we meant to be concerned about del Po?

He didn't play the DC either, I think he wants to be ready for the next tournaments

No points and lots of money. The article you posted itself says.
Ha! Couldn't be bothered to read it all. It was enough trouble to post the thread. I figured the likes of you and others would sort it out for me. :)

Will Rafa and Roger play doubles together?

I doubt it. If the two teams tie after 12 matches, there is a "best of one set" doubles match. If it comes to that,
I think they will play that. However, with Europe being so strong, there is no way it will come to that.

There are few doubles matches before the 13th match which is used as a tie breaker in case needed.
Potentially, Europe could field Fedal in one such doubles matches. However, I think they will not field
Fedal in a doubles match unless that match is going to make or break the deal.

There was smoking on the ESPN website that its a possibility, FEDAL doubles.. they should do it.. I know Darth and Front would wet their britches if that happens.

I think this whole event is built around the idea of a Fedal doubles pairing.

I am not so sure. However, the team members are required to sit in the stadium and root for other team members who are playing.
So, Rafa has to sit and root for Roger and vice versa.

I personally would like to see Fadal doubles pairing. But, I am not sure it will happen.

I don't get the impression that either of them would have a problem rooting for each other. I do think, though, that if Roger is still nursing his back, no one is going to abuse him. He has to play, as he's one of the instigators, right? But he's unlikely to play any more than he has to. He and Rafa can play doubles next year.

Oh no, they don't have problems in rooting for each other. I think both Roger and Rafa will play one singles match each and that will be it.
Moreover, even the second tier of Europe (Sasha and Thiem) is stronger than the second tier (actually even the first tier) of rest of the world.
So, there are chances that Roger does not play at all also (especially if his back is not healed fully).

Agreed. If Roger has to turn up only as promoter and cheerleader, I think everyone would cut him some slack. Team Europe is wildly favored. Had Novak and Murray been healthy, this would have been a near-joke. (Though, wonder where they'd have put Murray? I guess Brexit hasn't come through yet, so, Europe?)

If Federer could sit out Slams and Master Series to recover and refuel, why would he play an exo for money when he really needs to rest now? or maybe playing exo is a big part of his retirement plan.

Roger has been promoting this event since its inception. I'm not sure how much of it was his idea, but he has surely been a driving force. He's not just a passive participant in an exo. He's committed to this event.
