FAA had no business loosing to the likes of his opponent today. He blew a clear path to the semi's..It's really hard to understand how he plays down to the level of his competition.

That's the problem with today's stars; they can't sustain the promise shown in earlier years! We give them too much credit for "zoning" a few times so they'll always disappoint when they come back to Earth! It'll keep happening with the high expectations we keep giving these kids! We did it to Shapo because of an early WC win over Nadal in Canada, Kyrios who beat Nadal at Wimbledon and in Acapulco saving several MP's, and going way back Soderling may have been the next big thing due to his upset of Nadal at the FO in '09! Those are just a few of players we've anointed the next #1! Poor Thiem, Tsitsipas, & Zverev are the latest who have to perform or get thrown "under the bus!" :face-with-hand-over-mouth:

I wouldn't have put Soldering in the next best thing class. Rafa's was a bit jaded and had some other stuff in his home life but RS won the match regardless.

Okay The Austrian broken serving for the match 5 all now final set
Sonego was played better..did you see him brick another easy volley. Currier just said the same thing as I posted earlier. Thiem is not putting him away..Even if he survives this encounter..he may not have anything live Rublev.

The Austrian has been using bad shot selections in some of the rallies quite frankly

Plus we'll never know his true potential given his very unlucky demise at the height of his prime when he reached number 4, surpassing Murray only to get a very bad dose of mono and never be seen again. He played plenty of good matches after that too. Was brilliant against Federer at RG 2010 and proved it was no fluke getting to a 2nd straight French Open final. Finally, he absolutely destroyed Berdych 6-1 6-0 in the SF at Bastad 2011 and prime Ferrer (who was no slouch on clay) 6-2 6-2 in the final before he had to quit. He doesn't deserve to be mentioned alongside Zverev.

Auguri, Lorenzo! Well-played. I guess you are right, @napo...Thiem isn't all there, mentally.

The Austrian poor shot selection during the match was a factor in this match.
Sonego deserved his win,he did not go away in the match

Q/Finals,
Djokovic vs Tsitsipas
Sonego vs Rublev
Delbonis vs Opelka
Zverev vs Nadal
Rafa's on pretty early tomorrow. I rather wish he had the slot after Djokovic. He's Spanish, after all, and noon is early for him. Time to get a W over Zverev! Wonder how Tsitsipas will fare against Djoker?
