Djoker was welcomed so heartly, in love. At end he gave many autograpsh, shirt...and big hugh to all.
Thats Rome, they like him... bye bye spaniards.

Otherwise that Oldman did play very well, i also saw Djoker have some back problems.

Saw the first set and Federer played extremely well. The drop shot returning serve to break on the first set was classic.

It was very fun to watch the clinic after reading (most of) the comments here.

Why bye bye Spaniards?

Is this rhetorical question ?

Why bye bye Spaniards?

Because they're not too favorable towards Novak, who Mile is a fan of :)

Kyrgios is just a better player than Raonic. He has the ability to be top 10 right now, on the verge of top 5, certainly up there with Tsonga and Nishikori. Let's see if he has the consistency, though.

You must have some fond memories of the Indian Wells semi from 2012 so 'cos even Rafa's dirty tricks there didn't help his fate. He took a dump and made Roger wait to serve for the match at match point and when they resumed he aced him :snicker

Even though Fed played and won, he apparently told that he is not sure whether he will play the next match vs. Thiem. He says he is taking it a day at a time now.

This is what I've been talking about with the older vets; taking a spot from an "up and comer" just so they say they were at a tournament, but not putting any real effort to win! Venus on the ladies side is doing the same; no real chance, but there she is as #12 in the world! What a waste! :cover :puzzled :nono

Not putting any real effort? Who said that?

"ROME (AP) Roger Federer put his full array of shots on display in a 6-3, 7-5 win over Alexander Zverev on Wednesday in the second round of the Italian Open, an encouraging performance considering he only decided to play moments before stepping onto the court."

"After withdrawing from Madrid with lower back pain, Federer looked sharp from the start against the 44th-ranked Zverev, using his backhand slice drop shot especially well."

"The 19-year-old Zverev, considered a potential future Grand Slam champion, often found himself running down shots wide in the alleys. At one point, the 6-foot-6 (1.98-meter) German was pulled so far off the court he ended up in the lap of a line judge - then hugged the official after Federer put away an easy volley.

On the first point of the final game, Federer surprised Zverev by following his second serve to the net and Zverev lost his footing as he attempted to chase down Federer's volley. Zverev fell to the clay, dirtying his shorts and shirt, and had to go over to his chair to dust himself off."

^ Doesn't sound too bad to me.

...and what if he defaults tomorrow after this spectacular effort? Happens all the time with vets! :nono :cover
