So Alexandrova pulls off the Wozniacki upset. And with that. Wozniacki's... what 3rd or 4th straight early loss this year and end of last year. What do we think the timeline is on her retirement.
On the one hand I always hope the Roger's and Serena's of the world can show people that they don't need to retire at 30 or 29. And Venus has shown that a disease doesn't have to keep you down or send you into retirement. But RA is a bit different than and auto immune disease. At the moment, finally married and happy (we assume), though Caro has never really been unhappy. With the slam in the bag. A return to number 1 briefly after the slam. It would not surprise me at all to see Caroline hang it up here this year. Or even sooner. Hopefully I'm wrong. I'm never been her biggest fan. But I do respect her. She is a fantastic player. And I guess ya just hate to see someone's career cut short. So I'd love to see her fight through all this and get some wins and build her confidence back up. And for her to hang around another 2 or 3 years. But I mean, we don't know what she wants from life. No idea if she wants kids or not. Which. Serena did it at 36 or 37. But most don't want to wait that long and people really shouldn't wait that long. 35 plus is "higher risk" pregnancy they say. And it's not like Serena's pregnancy was smooth sailing.
Anyways. I just definitely see it on the horizon for Caro. She fought through and finally got her slam. Her career has been wonderful for her. Just don't know what type of person she is. The type that loves tennis so much she'll play it till she croaks or the type that finally got her main goal and is ready to go now. Especially with the RA making life difficult.
