That one really ticked me off! Roger killed himself to beat his countryman Wawrinka in the SF, saving a couple match points only to donate the ATP YEC Final to Nole the next day knowing it was a waste of time and energy! Mika even got involved bantering and insulting Stan during the match! I've found it strategic of many top players to put forth effort or not depending on if they have a real chance! Nadal does it all the time! No one of the top elites does it more; coming and going as he pleases! He retired in 2 semi-final majors alone last season! He really doesn't GAF about the patrons! :nono:

Karen has limited upside because of his low tennis IQ. He was playing a genius today, and had no chance whether Nadal was injured or not.
I disagree..silent K hit drop shots .hit the ball short and lob Rafa..he did everything he could to make rafa to move forward. however I agree Rafa is a genius

Lol! And Novak??

He was doing it more years ago before they found something wrong; breathing and diet issues! Since 2011 he's been better than most players in getting his arse out there to play! He's set records playing and winning over the other top 10 players; 30+ alone in 2015! Fedal can't say that! :p  :ptennis:

The only reason he didn’t play was Davis Cup mate. Neither Roger or Rafa would do that to a finals crowd
Not to put too fine a point on it, but Roger did actually do that to a finals crowd. I agree he had his eye on the DC, but he didn't play that YEC final. Nadal hasn't done that.

It could have been gluten or it could be complete bs too. Let's call a spade a spade, it doesn't take a professional athlete years and years to work out something that basic and cardio doesn't go from zero to hero just from cutting out gluten. Secret sauce is the most likely reason. I like to be realistic when it comes to overnight sports performance spikes and that was just too much to stomach, pun intended.

He also started using the egg around that time so his improved cardio was artificial and not related to his diet. Don't be that gullible.

I don't know if you're addressing the same point Dude made that I disagreed with. Please clarify. He claimed that Roger didn't face Novak in the final because he was hurting and thus knew he didn't stand a chance. That is simply not the case. Both Roger and Rafa would take their licks I think. The only reason Roger didn't show up was because he wanted to win Davis Cup for Switzerland. So I really don't know what you're trying to say. Rafa hasn't been in exactly that situation before, where he was concerned about jeopardising his teams chances. Closest I can think of is his no show for London 2012..

IIRC, Nadal certainly took his lumps in '09; losing all 3 of his RR matches! That was hilarious; esp. going down in straight sets to Soderling! That had to kill him since the animus couldn't get any worse! Robin taking him out of FO was the ultimate to all concerned! I still say Roger should buy the guy something nice; maybe a house for helping him complete his career GS! :yesyes:  :ptennis:

You need to more specific because no one of th elites plays as much over the years as Nole from what I can tell! He actually played 8 Masters in 2015, made all finals, winning 6! Has Fedal come close to doing anything like that? He should be exhausted and probably needed that injury time out last season! He's come back stronger than ever and has won the last 3 majors so I have no idea WTF you could be referencing! My blinders have dulled my senses I guess because the record defies any questioning of his competitiveness!

just watch Roddick post match interview talking about all the shite Novak used to get up to. All I'm saying is that a Novak supporter should be the last one to criticise even Rafa fans about bailing out of matches. It's pure comedy mate. Come on... :D

Yeah and very gracious of Nadal to withdraw from the 3rd round of RG for Djokovic too so he could finally win it in 2016 against a worse opponent than Soderling. See how dumb that sounds? We could all write tons of bs like that to rewrite history but it's just dumb and people don't believe it any more no matter how many times you type it here. I'm losing count at this stage how many times we've been subjected to reading the bolded part above.

well said! It's the sort of BS that gets promoted to try to diminish a players achievements. If it's done to the player they support they hate it

Going back to Roddick; Roger's favorite pigeon? Please! I would think there would be a statue of limitations on him by now! Mon Dieu, how far back you want to go? Roddick's the last player I would hark back to about anything; all serve and a flailing forehand! He could have done more if not for the timing; power tennis moved way past him by the time he was any good! :nono:  :banghead: :cuckoo:

I was only addressing your statement that "Roger and Rafa would never do that to a finals crowd." Well, Roger did. I understand why he did, but he did.

Keep slagging Roddick all you want but he ended his career with a winning h2h over Djokovic.
