Federer did choke in the 4th set in the AO final this as well, Cilic choked back by giving Federer two easy breaks. Today he was not so lucky Federer plays like he did today in Miami, The awesome Rafael nadal could get back number one

Of course he's geriatric but as we've seen he is still capable of great tennis and he's played it pretty consistently. This all around was not a good tournament for him, at least the matches I saw aside from Chung. I wonder where Ljubicic was, I like him in the mix, kind of get the sense he's helped push Fed to the type of more aggressive game that was missing today. That loss really sucked in every way but I'm interested to see how he recovers from it. That's the first big match since 2016 Wimbledon semi that he really pissed away from a commanding position.
Del potro did have, champion points as well not sure Federer was ever top in the match even if the match points.

He shouldn't be. Any good tennis from Roger takes care of DP, even a rejuvenated one. But Roger clearly has been generous to DP in a couple big finals now which is frustrating.
Relax a bit and think this way: before this final Fed had 97 titles including almost 30 M1000 titles (forgot exact number), Delpo had none. Fed has won all his 2018 matches to date, including those that do not count, like all at Hopman Cup, even the mixed doubles! Even all his exhibition toy games! You may lough at the latter but Bill Gates is boasting that although he does not have as many GS as his partner, he has in impeccable record 2:0 on his side.
Let's ignore Bill here but say: "Oh, come on Roger! Why don't you let the younger guys to enjoy some wins too!". BTW, this is exactly what Zverev shot at Fed across the net during their mixed doubles at Hopmann cup. Sadly, Fed didn;t listen and won. Eventually Fed did recall and listen yesterday: 2.5 months later agains Delpo. Because he saw Delpo upset & angry after Delpo lost the second. So his hand slipped while serving for the match at 40-15! Finally, Fed has shown some human-ship towards his opponent!

So Fed's impeccable streak in 2018 has ended at 17. Anyone knows who holds better record in this obscured statistics? Would it be Joker in one of those years some 5y ago when he was winning everything?

John McEnroe 42-0 before losing French Open Final after being two sets up and then winning 20 matches after that before losing in first round Cincinnati

Needless to say how delighted I am tonight. I have been a fan since 2008 and he has had one of the most frustrating careers with those surgeries. It was not staying well with me that he was missing a master title beside his name.
Now I am content. And if he plays this way for the near future events, he could be getting into the top 4, where he wasn't since 2010.

That is mean and gloaty and he didn't choke away those matches. Lost them fair and square. What a childish thing to call him a choker, given his record. What's your agenda?

I did not see the match, just checked the highlights on YouTube.
As moxie was saying, JMDP seems to have figured out how to use his BH . That is crucial to his success. Encouraging that he is not just slicing, but hits it also with power or driving it. Does not look as a liability anymore.

How's he in his head. Roger won 3 of the last 5 and one loss was when he was clearly hurt. And today playing like crap he still had to choke match points to lose

I don't know what is his agenda if any. However, I learnt of a new stat about Fed that is bothering me. Apparently, Federer is 1-7 in tournament deciding TBs. Need to investigate them. But, too busy to do that now.

Will was not talking about past matches, I'm just about right now.
