His forehand is very potent and he's pretty aggressive. Think he has upside because there's quite a bit he can improve on too.
think he turned 18 in January. rank is 177 according to commentators.

Tiafoe in a 3rd set TB with Goffin. Win or lose, he knows he can hang with a top 20 player.

So Goffin takes it on the breaker. Agree, this is a shot in the arm for Frances, and he will take a lot of positives out of this. It seems the crop of young guns are feeding off each other and improving rapidly as a group.

yes murray sneaked through 2nd set tb earlier, past a surprisingly lively grannyrollers.

That's what Courier said on TC. The rest will say, if Taylor can do it and Frances can do it, so can I. A rising tide lifts all boats, I guess. Suddenly it seems like US men's tennis might have a future, after all.

Indeed... There is a crop of players in the bracket and they'll push each other on... Then throw in the non-US guys around the same age too and the future for tennis in general looks very good... the best it's looked for a long time.

I didn't take it to the bigger picture because Courier was talking specifically about guys that you played juniors with, but, yes, I was thinking the same. There's a whole raft of promising young guys coming up. And they know that all of those future Hall of Famers in front of them are getting a little long in the tooth.

I'm enjoying watching these young guns... a bunch of new rivalries and stories on the horizon. What a difference a year makes :)

I thought Dimitrov had Sasha by even early in the 3rd. Impressive display of nerve and calm by Zverev to pull off that win. (Side note: I saw a little of him playing Kohlscrieber at the USO last year. He lost in the 5th, but it was a brutally hot afternoon, so that says a lot for his head and his fitness.)

Rocky start from Novak, who is down 1-4 in the first, but he appears to be finding his legs, and Bjorn is finding his level. It happened to Serena earlier today, and she still won in straights.

djokovix is playing like he's got a toilet stuck on his head again..1-5 down to some bloke who has hardly won any matches on atp tour.

Pittsburgh native takes the first set off Djokovic. And I thought Serena looked bad in her opener!
