What ridiculous focus Novak had, returning serves between 135-140 and breaking Isner. Incredible.

He needs a similar game in the second set....

So far we have

Djokovic/Isner vs. Tomic
Murray vs. Deliciano (why Nishikori why?)
Nadal vs. Raonic
Federer vs. Berdych

Some really good matchups. Missing the one I wanted to see most though. :cover

He's in most of the points on Isner's serve. Just needs to stay positive and keep at it.

An Isner match is not complete without a tb and so looks like we are going there.
I came in just in time to see it.

Phew I hate it when Novak plays Isner,I would rather watch wet paint dry quite frankly than have to watch a Isner match...;)

Onwards Novak!

Good job by Novak in not getting into the third set. Isner got behind a poor volley in the tb
and then remedied himself by a good volley and finally lost it by a forehand error leading to
the all too familiar situation of 0 Americans in the quarterfinals.

Just a quick re-cap on the match between Tomic v Kookinakis

I must say all through this tournament so far I have never seen Tomic 'dialed in' like he has been.He really attacked Kokkinakis weaker wing his bhand, also he serve to his bhand,Kokkinakis at times just didnt have an answer. In saying that I was proud of the the Kokkinakis saved many BPs,like he has all tournament. This was the first time he had taken a set off Tomic.Well done Kokkinakis and onwards Tomic.

Apart from the All-Australian and All-Czech R16 matches, all others were finished in straight sets.

The men's QF field is set. The upper half of the draw has the straightforward matches. Djokovic and Murray should easily beat Tomic and Lopez in straight sets respectively.

Meanwhile, the lower half of the draw has the intriguing matches. Both Berdych and Raonic are playing good tennis right now so they could both potentially beat Federer and Nadal respectively if they continue to play good tennis. In addition, one player in the lower half of the draw has to play three straight days just to win the title. So, it will be interesting to see if the four players in the bottom half will try to win quickly knowing they have to play three days in a row to win the title.

All in all, I think the Big Four will prevail and we will have a Big Four semifinal matchup on Saturday. Interestingly, this has not happened since the 2012 Australian Open.

On a side note: I want to say a BIG congratulations to Feliciano Lopez. At age 33, it looks like he is playing his best tennis of his career! You know somewhere Judy Murray is happy that Lopez is playing Murray :snicker

As for the Nadal-Raonic match, I would say this: Raonic better hope he gets an afternoon match rather than a night match because if it is a night match, then it would be difficult for him to play big bang tennis against Nadal.

The courts are playing super slow so if Raonic plays a night match, the ball would even be more heavier and slower.

As for Nadal, it's all about putting the ball in play and make Raonic move from side to side. The court conditions are slow so he should able manuever Raonic assuming Nadal plays well.

Not the least bit impressed by Nadal but it's a game-by-game process. Interested in seeing him against Raonic.
