I hope he ends with 18.

Lovely thought. Unsupported. He's 28. That would be winning 9 of the next Slams. Even if he wins the USO this year and then a couple each year after, he's unlikely to hit 30 with more than 14, and likely fewer. Four Slams post-30? The odds are against it.

I said "hope". I also hope that Federer ends with 19...F3, Dr. Youzhny, and KA 74 (Kevin Anderson) win at least one each...and Folks ends with none. But none of that is happenin', either. So please stop trying to make me be realistic! :)

Fair enough. We all hope what we hope, then. And we don't always have to be realistic. I agree with that. Folks sneer at the resurgence of Rafa, but I'm within my rights to hope for it. Perhaps this is a good time to tell you that it rankles me that you refer to Nadal only as "folks." But I reckon that is your aim. Would it be too much to ask to consider stopping? He does have a name.

With that serve he has now, I think he can win 4 to 6 more slams.

I like the sentiment, but years gone by you couldn't assume something like that! Mon Dieu, Emerson's record held up for over 30 years at 12; now he's not even a "footnote!" This is just so ridiculous that it's almost routine now for a top player to amass numbers unheard of; including rivalries that have 40-50 matches in semi's and finals! That shouldn't happen even once; now several of them exist! I've already ranted about how hard it was to even get 3 majors in a season; usually happening once a decade; '69, '74, & '88! Now we have 3 players in the same era that have at least one of those seasons, with Federer owning 3 of them back in the last decade and Nole on the verge of another! Agassi's record with Masters 1000 events was annihilated by all 3 of this eras stars as well! I just can't get over it; hence why I keep rehashing the same rant! :cover :nono  :dodgy: We were ready to anoint Sampras the GOAT years ago; even w/o a FO final on his resume! Now, there's a possibility that he will be forgotten except for having 7 Wimbledons! In the next 5 yrs, we could have 3 players over 14 majors and countless Masters/WTF's!  :eyepop

That may be possible, especially with improvement in training, diet and increased knowledge in human physiology. I also think that Federer's grand slam record will fall much sooner than we think.

It isn't too much to ask, but it IS too much to expect me to stop. I realize that Folks has a name. It's "Rafael", not "Rafa" or "Ralph". But that doesn't seem to stop peeps from calling him those nicknames, which is what "Folks" is for me...just a nickname. I can think of another eph-word that I'd rather call him.

I love "Folks". He could have called him bum-picker, stink fingers, baldy, bottle-boy, knee-cap. Comparatively, "Folks" is kinda charming. :snicker

"Phair" enuf. But forgive me if I don't consider that you have a copyright on the use of "folks." And at least you give it a proper "F." I suppose folks should be honored. :lolz::hug

I definitely have to revise my prediction of 11 to at least the 12-14 range. He is a heavy favorite going into the USO barring Stan sweeping the U.S. hardcourts (not gonna happen). I wouldn't be surprised if he gets the USO this year, at least the AO+1 next year, and then picks two more along the road to retirement.

Years ago, Agassi said the current BIG3 will end up their careers as top 5 in history. All-history or OPEN era? Novak is very close to #5 in OPEN ear, arguably is now . He needs to basket 13+ slams to be #5 in all-history, which is also within his reach. Based on his current, non-major-injury history and lack of young rising challengers, anything could happen in the next 2-3 years. He even has better chance to sweep the field than Fed 10 years ago .

There was a similar thread a couple of years ago on tennis.com, if I recall correctly, around the Year end break after his 2011 season, when Novak had 4 slams. Back then, I forecasted for him 13, which looked optimistic. (I remember some said 6, some are still around and probably know by now they were very wrong).
Now, after 2.5 more years and 5 more slams to the tally, I am more convinced that 12 is a realistic goal and hope to be pleasantly surprised on the upside, considering the current circumstances.

I have no idea what this means. That said, I never take ophphense when peeps rip on my phavorites (Phabio, Dr. Y., Anderson, Phederer). It's no big deal to me. Phabio is phlaky. Youzhny hits his head harder than he hits tennis balls. KA 74 (Anderson) just isn't that good. And Phederer just can't win a major phinal. I root HARD phor all of these guys every time they play. But I'm realistic, and I don't get dephensive when peeps rip them to shreds.

I have no any idea why you name Nadal "Folks" either and what it means to you, I don't see any similarity with his real name like "Phabio" and "Phederer" so maybe if you can explain to me why?....

Way back in 2009, when Phederer won both the Phrench Open and Wimbledon, which gave him the "Career Slam" and put him past Sampras phor the most majors, someone posted that Phederer benephited greatly because "folks" ("pholks") were injured. I took that to mean that Phederer benephited because Folks/Nadal was injured, because no one else who had a realistic chance of beating Phederer, was injured at the time. I've been repherring to Nadal as "Folks" ever since. That's the back story.
