Birthday lady today is Kimiko Date-Krumm born 28 September 1970 - yeah you're right long time ago in the last century - but she's still playing nice tennis on the WTA tour and is currently #58. Lives in Tokyo with husband, German race car driver Michael Krumm. She's turning 43 (forty-three) and here are a few facts about her:

Next birthday woman is retired - Marion Bartoli born 2 October 1984 - turning 29.
She won the 2013 Wimbledon Championships singles title after previously being runner-up in 2007, and was a semifinalist at the 2011 French Open. She also won seven Women's Tennis Association singles titles and three doubles titles. She announced her immediate retirement from professional tennis on 14 August 2013. But do we really believe that - we'll see what happens - but it was really surprising. She began when she was 6 years old. She practiced tennis with her father late at night after school on small, icy, unevenly surfaced courts which restricted free movement and influenced her playing style. He devised original training methods, such as improving hand-eye coordination by using balls of different size and color, or encouraging Marion to stay on her toes by taping tennis balls to the heels of her shoes. He drove hundreds of kilometres to tournaments while she would do her homework in the back of the car. She's developed some strange movements in her play like her unusual serve, in which she uses her wrist to generate speed. Or when she energetically is bouncing on the spot and practising racquet swings between points, and being noticeably restless during changeovers. Yeah a colorful person a lot of us miss. Halloween 2013 is right around the corner - Thursday the 31st to be more precise and around the world people are starting to warm up - also among tennis people. There are not that many interesting birthdays in October so why not say HAPPY HALLOWEEN together with our stars. She has been beating a lot of big names - many which I think you've forgotten she won over: Kim Clijsters, Svetlana Kuznetsova, Petra Kvitová, Li Na, Sam Stosur (at ITF level), Francesca Schiavone, Dinara Safina, Ana Ivanovic and Agnieszka Radwańska - that's not bad. This year has not been so good. She started well with a final in Auckland losing to Radwanska and the semi in Eastbourne (where she won over Kvitova in second round). Has long been Belgian #2 and was looked at as a follow up to legend Kim Clijsters. In a relationship since 2011 with Belgian footballer in Lierse SK - Jérôme Vanderzijl. Her first name is inspired by legendary footballer Maradona's youngest daughter! Happy 24th Yanina and may you be strong in 2014
