How can he be overplaying? Before last week he hadn't picked up a racquet in 8 weeks. :lol6:

It is actually about 11 weeks. 80 days to be exact. I don't understand why people have irrational fears. Further, grass matches by Fed are usually only an hour long.

I think Fed is playing too much. He doesn’t want to peak before Wimby. And there’s the chance he gets injured. As much as I would like to see him win title 99, it would be better if he were fully rested for London.

It's only overplaying if he ends up struggling through long matches here. If that happens then there is higher risk of fatigue and/or injury. Technically he could always get hurt but I don't think it'd be due to playing last week. Last year he got hurt due to being run like a rag doll by Zverev and he was being run like a rag doll because he was playing poorly at an event he shouldn't have signed up for.

Secretly hoping Fed loses here to be fresh and peak for Wimbledon.

Recently for Fed the problem has been playing two or three tournaments back to back which either drains him or worse gets injured. I think he maybe ok for Wimbledon but he mustn't get involved in too many 5 setters in the first week or 2nd week. Let's see what the draw brings in Wimbledon.

Oops, I am wrong. Did not check the schedule and assumed things. Fed chose to play Paire tomorrow. So, he will have Thursday off and then three consecutive days of matches.

I was wrong in saying I was wrong.:lol3:

Fed is not playing tomorrow and then will play for four days consecutively (hopefully :D)

Coric has Sasha's number. It is not the first time he dumps him. I said it at the USO, he knows him from juniors, and executes his plan well in their meeting.

I was wondering about the schedule. Kind of rather he play tomorrow and then 3 straight if he wins but oh well. I think on paper Koleslaw is the biggest threat on his side.
I think that paper vulnerable to be burned by in form Ebden. Matt reached his career high recently and looked very solid in the first giving a bagel to Malek. This oz guy can disrupt Kohl's campaign in the next round. And he would deserve it, as he's a very nice, eloquent guy (a break from the recent breed of brats TA & Craig Tiley feel ashamed of) so I wish him all the best.
BTW: anyone knows what (SE) at Matt's name in the draw stands for?

SE mean special exemptions. These are spots are reserved for players who could not participate in the qualifying because they went deep in the previous tournament.

Something about Tsitsipas makes me think he's the real deal. I don't know his game and don't know what his upside is, but he seems to have a quality of...steadiness?...that some of his peers don't have.

Fed rolls into Halle...

The title of the clip suggests Fed being over-confident here.
He looks almost like an astronaut in a hard-hooded jumper; he lowered the hood just in passing, while he's ready to jump on the launchpad. Is it really that cold in Germany right now?
But in the interview, Fed shows the prescribed amount of humbleness to keep his image spotless: "it's not gonna be easy", "I must take it one at a time", "very important first match", etc.Recently, he even learned to add the word "maybe" to his public opinions: "maybe I had more chances than him", "maybe I was better at the net", etc., to soften his bragging. Compare that to his comments from 14-15y ago: "I don't need to play at my top level to beat him" when asked what he thinks of his next opponent (that was Agassi AO 2004). From that awkward moment, years of mental practice how to stay in the spotlight and of training in PR rendered him as smooth and eloquent as one can only imagine.

Openly hoping Fed looses to Nadal at Wimbledon so he can be fresh for the Montreal

LOL. Look I already know your entire fanbase is based on your hate for one player, meanwhile Fed fans were born out of love for Fed's beautiful game something Nadal will never have.
