Andy has been training on the clay courts at Wimbledon and he flew to Paris a few days ago to train on the clay at Roland Garros. Today he was in Scotland to receive his freedom of the city of Stirling and his honorary doctorate from the University of Stirling.

That city is where was just announced that Juan Carlos Ferrero is opening a Tennis Academy:

I think this was announced long ago. With this, China has ATP 250, ATP 500 and ATP 1000
in successive weeks, which I think no other country has.

I think this was announced long ago. With this, China has ATP 250, ATP 500 and ATP 1000

The event was announced before, the Ferrero Academy is the novelty.

^ Perhaps he wasn't asked. Anyway, there are no top Chileans at the moment. And "assistant" coach was the wording in the English-language press. In Spanish, it was expressed as he was 'joining the team.' It might be a way of getting his feet wet, and learning about coaching on the job. Perhaps later he'll be more confident to take on a player as full coach. He's just in the infancy of his retirement…he's probably exploring what his post-playing days are most suited to.

^ My fault, really. I saw the difference, but went lazy with the English link. I didn't know people would take it so much as a slight, the notion of "assistant coach," but it isn't completely accurate as to how it seems he'll be taken on.

I was at Gonzo's very last slam match. He lost to Dr. ivo in New York. His matches were always packed.

Rajeev Ram retires. I did not start a thread for that as people would ask when was
he playing? He is from Israel even though his name sounds Indian.

He is primarily a doubles player although he has attempted his hand in singles in
several tourneys mostly in the qualifying rounds and 1st/2nd rounds.

Any way he has 3 GS trophies, one in Men's doubles and two in Mixed doubles.
He used to play with Elrich.
