Fed v Davydenko in Oz in 2010, he was down a set and 3-1 - then won the next 13 games, with nary a twitch from Davydenko to stop him until Nikolai was down a break in the fourth. He literally downed tools.

And of course, Haas in Paris, where one great shot from Federer at 3-4 down in the 3rd caused Tommy's knees to tremble. Unlike Davydenko, his knees never stopped trembling.

At least Robredo stuck to his task, which has been seldom in Fed's years, but most welcome. There is NO way Haas or Davydenko would ever send Roger packing at a slam, no matter how lousy he played... :nono

why don't you cut the chase and say 'weak competition'? you know it's the act of coward's coward, at least Cali was honest and direct with how much he disliked Nadal or his game. You on the other hand couldn't own up to it, but sing the same song ever since Fed got close to surpass Sampras...... your long term jealousy is bad for health and it really stinks, if that doesn't matter to you then ever heard of the saying ____ is a bitch (fill out the blanks) ;)

Q. if you wanted to play tennis in a different era, which era would it be?

What do you think of George Bastl? He beat Pete Sampras in a major.

I think nothing of him. He was a flash in the pan and he caught Pete on a disastrous day for him.

But - he finished the job. How often have we seen guys run scared of that - and yet we're supposed to praise them. Robredo did well that day and deserves praise for it. Federer didn't play his best, that's obvious, but it means nothing. He's often played worse and fellas let him wriggle off the hook...

EDIT: one thing I'm really happy to see is upsets at the majors, even though Rafa has been victim now twoce at Wimbo. I think they're a sign of good health in the game...

Robredo deserves praise. But it doesn't make the loss any less disastrous -- or alarming -- for Federer. The two aren't mutually exclusive.

I think that's what I've been trying to say, BS. That the two aren't mutually exclusive.

Novak is the funniest when it comes to antics but Murray's the funniest when it comes to witty replies. I think his humor is extremely underrated.

Andy Murray to play in fundraiser for Elena Baltacha.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/tennis/27049689

Andy Murray and Martina Navratilova are among a host of tennis stars to pledge their support to a fundraising event for Elena Baltacha this summer.

Former British number one Baltacha, 30, was recently diagnosed with liver cancer, and the players will hold a 'Rally for Bally' on 15 June.

----------------

I have to say I was pretty impressed with Nick Kyrgios‬ when I read his tweets today. Very sweet guy.

Neil Harman ‏‪@NeilHarmanTimes‬

The Rally for Bally (title suggested in ‪@timessport‬) takes place in June to aid ‪@ElenaBaltacha‬ in her battle against liver cancer. Gr8 stuff

Nicholas Kyrgios ‏‪@NickKyrgios‬
Such a great idea ‪@NeilHarmanTimes‬ I don't know ‪@ElenaBaltacha‬ personally but can't help but admire her. I'm happy to help at queens too.

Neil Harman ‏‪@NeilHarmanTimes‬
@NickKyrgios‬ ‪@ElenaBaltacha‬ One of the finest tweets I've received from anyone in tennis Nick. We'll find something for you to do!

Nicholas Kyrgios ‏‪@NickKyrgios‬
‪@NeilHarmanTimes‬ ‪@ElenaBaltacha‬ The tennis family has to stick together in times like this. Whatever you find me to do, I'll be there.

I saw this photo of Andy at Wimbledon today. It's not often that Andy looks tiny but today was one of those days. The guy he's pictured with is a groundsman at Wimbledon and he's 7'1.

That's hilarious…I thought they were standing on a bleacher, with Andy a step down!

Imagine he played tennis and served like Karlovic. Scary!

I just read on the ATP site the other day that the indoor event from St. Petersburg in Russia is now moved to Tel Aviv in September after the USO.
All I could think of, without wanting to ignite any political debate, is this another move to somehow sanction Russia for their latest political moves?

I don't think it has anything to do with the political issues going on. It is probably purely
a financial and business decision.

What was the occasion?

the USTA sponsored the annual Easter egg hunt. Brian Baker and a few other players were there too.

I agree. Plus, a change of this nature takes a long time to work out. It's not something which can be arranged in a few weeks, or even months. I don't know for certain, but I would guess this has been in the works for at least a year, probably longer.

While everybody is busy playing, winning, losing, getting injured etc, Murray is busy
collecting accolades from his hometown, honorary degrees from universities etc.
I don't have a problem and this is just an FYI

Andy has been training on the clay courts at Wimbledon and he flew to Paris a few days ago to train on the clay at Roland Garros. Today he was in Scotland to receive his freedom of the city of Stirling and his honorary doctorate from the University of Stirling.
