Andy is taking time off for about a month and plans to select a coach by the end
of that period and hopefully before he resumes action. I call upon folks to come up
with suggestions as to who will be a nice coach for Andy and articulate it.
As you know, Andy reads this forum on a regular basis and plans to give 50% of
his winnings from the next Grand Slam to the poster whose suggestion he takes up.

Here is an article that says Paul Annacone should quit coaching Sloane
and join Andy's team.

Since Andy is a momma's boy...why not Momma Murray.

I think he'd do well with Dennis Cahill or--believe it or not--Brad again, because Andy is more confident and could use Brad for his technical knowledge better than he could absorb before

I think Dennis Istomin has his Mom as his coach even now.

How about Andre Agassi? He had recently indicated that he is open to coaching possibilities.
As per his autobiography, he never enjoyed playing tennis, almost similar to Andy.
Would that work?

Go on, I'll do it, how much is he charging by the hour? :snigger

I think getting Lendl was the supreme example of thinking outside the box. Cahill seems a long time gone from that kind of involvement with the sport, and is he still involved with Adidas, coaching the top stars who are too scabby to buy their own coach?

Lendl was chosen for a specific task and he achieved that. So what's Andy's next specific task? Well, to recover his form, win majors - and challenge for #1 spot. Nothing less than this. So I recommend get somebody in to solidify and back up what he already has: Annacone...

Maybe he should go at it alone for this season...see how he can handle the pressure alone, with no one to curse at in his box every time he misses a shot. Maybe it can help him handle tough situations better, even mature a bit more. You are all alone in the court anyways...

Or just get Annacone...;)

Actually Agassi is not open. On the recent interview on World Of Tennis with Gimelstob
he said he has no desire to travel and he has too much on his plate with his charity work and school.

Absolutely. Good for Istomin. I think Judy Murray would be the one person he would listen to, even at this stage.

Here is a brief history of Andy's Past Coaches.

1. Leon Smith 1998-2004 (when Andy was a teenager)
2. Mark Petchy 2004 -2006
3. Brad Gilbert 2006 -2007
4. Miles Maclagan 2007 -2010
5. Alex Corteja 2010 - 2011
6. Ivan Lendl 2012-2014

He split with Coretja after Miami in 2011 and remained coachless till beginning
of 2012 season. Although he took a long time to make the decision, he made a
very good decision then.

Let us see what he does this thime.

Maybe we see a trend here...an uncoachable jerk. Just playing devils advocate. I found him to be polite.

Here is another option. Fabrice Santoro, the magician. Fabrice had a brief try out with
Dog as a coach since the beginning of the year, but it did not work out into long term
arrangement and so he is free now.

On the negative side, Fabrice does not have huge credentials, neither as a player
nor as a coach.

On the positive side, his game and murray's game are somewhat similar
and Fabrice is very good at finding out what is the weakness of the opponent
in real time and exploiting it in his matches.

Plus Agassi is still involved in playing tennis for "older" players. I don't know about Andy? Does he even want to get back to where he was on the Tour? I have seen several of his Matches where he just looked like he wanted to be anywhere, but on a tennis court!

Dennis Rodman... Andy can swear at him all he wants, and get a healthy dose of it returned to him.
:snigger.

Andy surprised all of us when he picked Lendl. It turned out to be the best move he ever made, and I am not sure he will ever top that one. Personally, I think Tony Roche might be someone who could help him.

The 2 people that are leading the poll on the Murray forum I visit haven't been mentioned here. Martina seems to be a popular choice and I did notice she retweeted a message that someone had sent to Andy suggesting Martina as his new coach.

When someone asked her:
@martina Are you throwing your hat into the ring with that last RT?

she responded with
@glenysfurness My hat is always in the ring as I love to pass on the knowledge of the sport I love so much :)

I can see a lot of positives for Martina but I do think she's a little too outspoken. I don't think that's a bad thing but I wouldn't want Andy getting asked about anything and everything Martina was talking about on twitter. Hiring a woman - even a tennis legend like Martina - would inevitably lead to the frankly childish assumption that Andy's a mummy's boy. Not quite sure why that persists but OK.

Bob Brett is also a popular choice. I don't think he handled the Cilic situation very well. I thought he threw Cilic under the bus.

I'm not sure Andy will have someone in place before the French Open.

Martina would tell him what anyone else does. Improve that 2nd serve. Plus she hates that fella Federer.
