Unlucky by playing well at inopportune moments? Not sure what that means. "Likely would have won" Wimbledon if not injured. "Likely would have won" the US Open had he not been injured and/or had he not squandered match/break points and had the surface not been slowed. Too many "ifs". Sounds like a lot of excuses, to me.

Playing well in inopportune moments I already explained.
And those are my opinions, you don't have to agree with them.Dont brand them excuses or like the other poster moaning

Saul Goodman. Opinions, excuses, whatever. All the same, but too many "ifs", in my excuse.

I find it overly concerned the notion that Roger would get out of the habit of playing hyper-aggressive tennis by playing on clay. He's been pretty good at switching his style to surfaces over the years, and he will have Halle. I agree that the concern would be over-use and being tired or injured. Only he can make that call, when Rome looms, or whatever.

If he plays Rome it is after more than one month off, then he has a week off and plays RG. Then he has at least one week off and plays Halle, then another week off before Wimbledon. I don't see much fatigue there, but obviously he's still more rested not playing clay. Bottom line is any decent tennis and he wins Wimbledon, the question mark should be whether he can pick up USO this year. Crush the grunting peasant's quest for the slam record

The subtle mention of the same tournaments they played in, with Roger getting the better. Nice touch. Also kind of weirdly nerdy that you know that. You're angling for a h2h there, since it doesn't matter in how the year ended up.

What that shows for those being stubborn and just plain blind, is that it's more than just the H2H. Fed has outperformed him in every tournament they've entered aside from the USO. Keep saying we are all talking the H2H last year.

hah hah Nadal was the one that ended the year number one, Federer did not even win the wtf lost to goffin. Also did not play the clay court season because he too scared to play nadal. Plus Nadal has the best Second serve on the tour 57% better than Federer.

Remind me how Nadal did at YEC last year. Better yet, remind me what he's ever done at YEC. Your boy is garbage without a high bounce...

The next title Nadal defends off dirt will be his first...
See here we go cherry picking the fact that Nadal ever def A title off clay, Nadal won 4 hard court events multiple times, the triple hat trick India wells, Montreal USO.so it does not have to be back to back at the some event.

Not cherry picking, it's merely stating a fact. Off clay he has done well, way better than he should've in some peoples opinions, but he isn't remotely dominant.

There is only 48 hours left before the draw ceremony. No announcement yet. What do you folks think? The later the announcement comes, is it more likely that he is playing in Dubai or not playing in Dubai? I tend to think the later.

I don't think hes playing Dubai...achieved the #1 ranking which he will have going into IW...I think playing back to back and winning both IW and Miami is tough but doable for him to repeat but if he plays Dubai not as fresh plus he has this exhibition thing.

^I'm really hopeful that he doesn't play Dubai. Get through the sunshine double, or IW alone if he chooses, then have a rest until the grass season. Wimbledon is more important than anything else

Actually, I too think he won't be playing. If he plays, he needs to make an announcement. If he does not play, Federer is under no obligation to make any announcement as he is not entered in the tournament in the first place. So, if at all somebody makes an announcement that Fed is not playing, it has to be Dubai Organizers. Considering it is not in their interest to make that announcement quickly, it is reasonable to conclude that the longer the delay in any announcement coming, the higher the chances that Fed is not playing.

In case of Rotterdam, it was announced on Wednesday of the previous week that Fed is playing. Now, it is already Thursday and still no announcement. Hence, it is reasonable to conclude that Fed will not be playing in Dubai.

I agree. I actually meant to type later in my email and erred and wrote former. Now, I have fixed the original post and also gave further explanation as to why I think "later" would be the case in my reply to Federerberg.
