Maybe it was made in Mallorca.
I'd hazard a bet that that wall was made in Switzerland. ;) Anyway, the joke was a lampoon on those folks who still think 19+ Majors get produced in a doctor's office, whether in Spain or Switzerland.

It is a sad day when the most entertaining thing going on in the tennis world is watching Roger Federer teaching kids how to play with their balls.

Ahem.

If Fed really means what he's saying here (i.e.: knee problems rather than unwillingness to expose himself to the virus ala Nadal) then we are seeing the end of his career on top of the pack. His promised return in 2021 cannot be as successful as 2017 (4 years forward is a long time, he's an old man in tennis terms now), in particular we can say with high likelihood his major's record is settled.

If all top 3 (Joke, Fed, Nad) won't come to USO this year (others may also follow - it looks like a boycott!), and the stands are virtually empty (or fans made of cardboards & recorded cheers played from speakers), what kinda tournament is it going to be? Will it ever deserve to be called "Grand Slam"? The "historical winner" (first time outside big3 for a long time) might not be appreciated as much as he would if the tournament was conducted in "normal" circumstances

'deserve' has nothing to do with being a grand slam, it is what it is.

Does it really matter if Roger Federer would have played this year’s US open and Roland Garros? He hasn’t won either tournament in over 10 years! He’s a smart man to have withdrawn from them.

I made this point on another thread, but I don't think that non-participation in any event this year constitutes a "boycott." It wouldn't be for political reasons, or anger at the powers that be, per se. If some players don't like the structure or the strictures, they may choose to stay home. That's fine. And while @Ricardo and I rarely agree on anything, we seem to agree that if the tournament is played, the winner is the winner.

Suppose a lucky player's opponent withdraws due to CV and this happens seven times in a row; would you say the same?

I don't exactly understand your question. Are you asking if someone won with 7 retirements, would it be a valuable win? I have to think that, if it were due to 7 cases of COVID, the tournament would be stopped before that.
