I"m not surprised about that result. After RG Rafa took a week vacation and later just one week practice on grass which is a big change from clay. Berdych besides has played before he usually plays well on grass and better when there is not pressure. Obviously Rafa needs a little more time and I hope he will have some good luck in the draw not having to confront any torpedos servers in the two first matches in Wimbledon

I would not be worried about that result. At all.

Rather easy for you to say, but Rafa's coming off of a domination of the clay season, years of mediocre results on grass, and he puts up an unimpressive scoreline against a guy he has mostly owned. You'd be worried if you were invested in Nadal making a quality finish at Wimbledon this year, I reckon.

Watching on TC Wimbledon 2008, 9 years ego, Nadal 22 and both knees with bandage . One year later he didn't play because his knee and he couldn't defend his title but in 2010 (24 years old) he won his second title. After that year by year Wimbledon has been hell for him. What we can expect this year? sincerely I have not any idea, I could say: " bah, he won't pass the first week" or " he will and playing really well" to me right now it's unknown

Haha, I'm trying to re-assure you, Moxie. You know that Rafa brings it when he's under pressure, and an exo is just a glorified practice session. Again, I wouldn't worry about it.

And continuing watching that final, it's incredible how much Rafa has improved his volley. I'm more confident that he will do a very good HC season

I appreciate your effort. Even Front was kind about it. It won't keep me from lighting a candle during the draw ceremony and wearing my lucky shirt. :lulz2::lightning:

Clearly that's El Dude's point. I'm not calm yet, though.

The upsetters Rosol and Stakhovsky and the youngsters Fritz and Rublev won their second round of Quals today. All of them are one win away from entering MD.

A Hungarian player by name Fucsovics Marton who won a challenger on grass last week was given a wild card to Wimbledon.
Wimbledon also decided not to award two wild cards to anyone and instead use it on players next in line as per the ranking charts.

p.s. Old news is that Tommay Haas, Shapalov and three british chaps (including james ward) were awarded wild cards earlier.

Hopefully Rosol is 100% fit this year. Last time I recall watching him at Wimbledon he had some problem with his neck that affected his game somewhat as you'd imagine.

Rosol actually had two encounters with Rafa at Wimbledon. Everyone remembers the first one in which he played lights out and won.
Some even thought it was total fluke. However, Rosol acquitted himself very well in the second encounter. Even though he lost this time, he played really well and gave Rafa a run for his money.

Rather his sole claim to fame and a fan club, though, eh? (Oh, no...I'm sure you and Front really appreciate his playing style.)

Yeah. Double fault in the 2nd set TB and missed out on a 2 sets to 0 lead. Probably haunt him the rest of his career on tour. Would have been a tough uphill battle from 2 sets down.

Wait, Rafa and Roger have equal chances of getting eliminated in the first week. Am I recollecting properly, Carol?

Agreed, any of the top players has the chance to get eliminated in the first week but remember that Rafa has the record

Nobody is claiming Rosol is an elite player or anything like that. However, Rosol has actually won two ATP 250 titles, one on clay and one on hard courts. There are quite a few top 100 players who have never won a single title. So, the contention that beating Rafa at Wimbledon is his sole claim to fame is not quite correct. One always admire a player who can stand up to big guys, be it Rafa or Fed or Novak.
