We well know most have no chance, but I was thinking of Roger wearing himself out playing best of 5 sets against these youngster in the early rounds! They aren't just going to roll over for him like in the past! If he's just extending his major participation, he's wasting a space in the draw! :nono :angel: :dodgy:

Lately your anti Federer posts are getting more and more annoying. People never rolled over for him, he was just simply brilliant in his prime. And he's still beating players now at nearly 35 because he's still very good. No one is rolling over for him now and no one was rolling over for him then. He's not just extending his major participation and I doubt any fan of tennis on the whole planet would ever claim Roger Federer is wasting a space in the draw unless maybe you think they'd prefer to see some donkey qualifier than him :s What makes this more annoying is you were actually a fan of Federer before but the slagging he gets from you these days would make anyone wonder if you ever supported him.

Stranger things have happened than 2 of the favourites exhausting each other in slams and opening up the whole draw. We just saw it happen in Rome with Murray, and while Novak is definitely fit enough to withstand a few tough 3 setters, there's also the mental aspect of a few tough matches en route to a final. Let's say Novak beats Rafa and Stan takes out Murray and then has a subpar next match, is Roger then wasting a space in the draw for playing ? No, he's not. Plus, he needs the practice as he's barely played in months.

I see "Doc" Front still thinks that Fed only has a temporary back problem..No No .. Front.. if his back could hold up for two matches in Rome last week in a best of 3 sets, how is Roger gonna get that back to hold up for two weeks in a best of 5 set format against guys that might be 10 years plus his junior.. Even Federer can't defeat Father Time..

Was Nadal injured when Thiem beat him this year? No. I expected a high probability of Federer losing to Thiem as his baseline game is rock solid and he hits the ball extremely hard. Both of those point strongly at him being a tough opponent. Bear in mind he had 14 break points in the last match he played against Novak as well so it was a lot closer than the score indicated.

Rafa got beat and out played by Thiem.. no doubt no execues.. However.. Federer wasnt at full strength when he played Thiem last week.. However.. if you insist that we are talking apples to apples then so be it.. you know everything it seems

By "lately" I meant the last 19 months.

He was simply brilliant in the Doha final but has been well below that level the rest of the year. He was much better in 2011 than now and so was the competition.
