Stan's so inconsistent he could lose before the 2nd week or go all the way to the final again. Total headcase. Anyone's guess which version of Stan turns up this year but so far he's been very poor all year.

It's all about if Stan can bring it together for two weeks consecutively( remember Rafa wasn't playing that great in 2014,leading up to RG), I don't think Novak would want to see Stan in his half of the draw.

Yeah, given the pressure on Novak, facing Stan is gonna be a tough one if it happens.

I don't see Stan going too far, Thiems seems to be still too 'too tender', maybe he could be a real threat but not yet, not yet. Tsonga? I'd be very surprised if he advances too much. Monfils has the game but something is missing on him. Kai in 5 sets...I'm not sure about his fitness. I don't think Federer is still ready to play a GS , he has not played too much, almost nothing and I doubt that he is 100% well, not even 70%. Novak is doing well even that he lost in the first round in MonteCarlo it doesn't mean he is in bad form besides his opponent played very well, any top player can lose to anyone, the problem starts when they lose more often like Rafa went through, it takes time to recovery the best game and confidence. Novak has not been injured so he can play well in these next tournaments. Muzz....who knows, he is a very unpredictable player, he has enough game but that head...pttfff. And Rafa? well, I do believe that he has the chance to win one more time, last year he wasn't his own shadow, this year seems to be a very different story, he is not the #1 but he could be the favorite and I have the feeling that the crowd is going to be on his side more than ever

Well, Stan won the first Slam of 2014, the second Slam of 2015, so maybe Wimbledon this year?

Regardless, he is the biggest wildcard on the tour. He's 17-5 so far this year (77%) with two titles, with one ATP 250 (Chennai) and one ATP 500 (Dubai), and a 4R AO loss.

Compare that to last year on May 1: he was....17-5, with two titles, one ATP 250 (Chennai) and one ATP 500 (Rotterdam), but a SF AO loss.

Still, almost exactly the same start.

That's my point , Stan knows how to win a grand slam and he may be Novak worst match up

Get real folks. Thiem just won't win RG (this year). At best, he will play a spoiler role and take out Rafa or Fed or Novak (and then bow out to Kohly in the next round). That's it.

Thiem has a better chance than Dimitrov after what I saw today of him in Istanbul! :cover :nono  :dodgy:

It is a long list of players with better chance than Dimi at RG.

Grigor may be more famous for his off the court "game". Grigor may be present day "the Worm"..meaning his relationships all these female celebrities

Thiem needs to pace better himself leading into RG to maximize his chances there.
His schedule: Munich, Madrid, Rome, Nice and RG is a kamikaze tour and that will not help his cause in the slam.

If he has any sense, he will skip Nice at least. But, he seems to be onto alternative ways of pacing himself such as losing in the opening round. :laydownlaughing

This loss he just suffered gives him a much needed rest.

I think someone playing tennis will win the French open. so mote it be.

You mean someone playing tennis by holding the racquet in the normal way, unlike Tomic.

Depends if Novak somehow gets knocked out early. Then many have a chance but, if not, he's the favourite.

Stan has shown the blueprint to defeat Djokovic however he is the only one who has the "stones" to implement it .

Four times in 23 tries. On clay Stan is two for seven. Not to take away from his achievement, but even having the "stones" and belief still isn't enough, most of the time.

Personal rumination regarding the French? I would like to see ND skip Rome and play RG fresh and focused. It's worked for him at Wimbledon the past couple of years.
