Tacky umpiring? Enforcing the rules? That sucks alright.
yes tacky umpiring, enforcement of rules at bp or 5-5 is asinine. They should establish precedent by giving warning at the beginnings not towards the critical stages. I have heard over 5 commentators both of BBC and TC like James Blake said that their methods are unacceptable. If you don't agree with their assessments it won't be a surprise

No, I agree they should do it not just from the beginning but all through the match till he gets the damn idea and stops doing it to throw his opponents off. We both know the crucial points though are where he takes even longer (ask any of his opponents as many have complained) so at least Carlos does something unlike most of the rest.

Front , do you really think 3-5 secs throws off his opponents. It's much adu about nothing, do you play tennis competitively? Trust me it's not that big of deal

Anybody, planning to pluck some money down on Roger for RG should do so now, before his odds improves due to possible good performance in Madrid and/or Rome. Same story with Rafa.

Having said that, you should not be putting money on Roger @ RG unless you really could afford to lose some spare cash.

You're kidding about 3-5 seconds right? Check the average length of Federer's matches and the time he takes between points. You're meant to play to the server's pace and yet he makes his opponents wait even on their own service games. There's a reason guys like Brown, Kyrgios and Rosol got under his skin at Wimbledon and not just their serves but the short amount of time between the points they play. It throws him off and you can see it in his facial expressions. He does the opposite to them on purpose to annoy them and it works. They get agitated and make errors and then lose and that shouldn't be allowed. The guys I listed above take around 15 seconds between points a lot of the time. Federer and the players above have won service games in the time Nadal picks his ass. That should tell you it's more than just 3-5 seconds.

Picking his ass takes the same time than passing the hand a couple of times all over the forehead like it would be some flies around like Roge does

Sure it does Carol. Pity about all the other tics he has to go with it, brushing his hair behind the ears, both sides, nose dripping like a tap. That's the thing with you Nadal fans, you just can't accept the truth. We'd all get along better if you could just admit he does things wrong. Yes, he's slow on the court and yes it's annoying to his opponents and yes, the umpires shouldn't allow it. You know damn well Federer does not take anywhere near as long between points and THAT is your comeback? Priceless. Roger's matches are often half the time and time spent between points is also way, way shorter and you know it. Have you ever read about opponents complaining about Federer being slow? No. Me either.

Yeah.....and I'm sure that Roger usually lost to Rafa because those tics which takes three seconds :D

As I said to AP, they are not 3 seconds. Federer often spends around 15 seconds between points and Nadal often takes double so yes, that will annoy his rhythm A LOT. If it was only 3 seconds over do you really think so many opponents would have complained that Nadal gets away too easily? And as I already pointed out, it's not only him being slow on his own service games but he has the cheek to make his opponents wait even when they're serving. Towelling off after being aced etc. That's not good sportsmanship in any way whatsoever and that's why opponents complain.

FRONT, if you were a 'normal' Roger's fan (no fanatic) like some of his fans I know and I talk to them often you would be more focus and critizing the players which after to finish every single point are walking in a slowww motion and also bouncing the ball 20 times, even the commentators have said something about it. Have you checked how many seconds they took? I'm sure not because you don't care a dime what the others players do, you have a badly obsession with Rafa which looks like a sickness, pity. :cover :puzzled :nono

Front242, Carol, and Kieran, can you please cut this shit out so the rest of us can enjoy talking about tennis? This endless squabbling has become beyond ridiculous and is, I'm guessing, actually prohibiting people from engaging in discussion.

Front242, everyone realizes that you don't like Rafa and think he used PEDs. OK, we get it. Now please stop. Unless you have solid proof, you're just spouting hearsay and wild conjecture that borders on libel.

Carol and Kieran, we all realize you guys are super defensive about Rafa, somewhat understandably with Front's continual onslaught. But please stop baiting him, because when he quiets down one or both of you find a way to stir the pot, not to mention insult other Federer fans that have nothing to do with Front's crusade against Rafa.

The bottom line: this squabble is tiresome and making it difficult for others to enjoy discussion of tennis. I for one am an advocate of free and open conversation and I am not threatening deletions or bans, but I also just want to speak out for the sake of civil discourse.

p.s. There are other tennis players out there other than Rafa and Roger. ;)

Listen, I know moderators can't be present all the time and you generously give up your spare time, and we appreciate it, but moderate this sh1t and make it clear what's what, because we're getting sick and bored having to tell people to stop spamming. It isn't a "crusade", it's a form of madness, and indiscipline. And it's always the same people. I came online the other night to discuss tennis and had to wade through pages of the same old illiterate bull. I didn't "stir a pot", I kicked the pot over. And you will notice then that people start talking about tennis again.

It's very simple. So let's not let it get out of control because it ain't attractive to people who might be lurking and want to join an intelligent tennis discussion group...

There are lots of slow players for sure, Del Potro and Isner take a long time, Raonic is pretty slow and Novak used to bounce the ball way too many times but he's speeded up a lot now. Novak has improved a lot though since and doesn't take as long though there are always going to be specific important points where he'll go over and he should be treated just the same way. Happy now that it's not just Nadal?

El Dude I didn't actually mention anything about PEDs in this thread. The last thing I was discussing in this thread was umpires adhering to the rules and nothing more. The problem is the Nadal fan camp can't accept any criticism at all. It's like they think the guy is a saint and then they start backlashing on every thread whenever anyone at all points out something he does wrong. I made a post in reply to Kieran saying he hates even the umpire in Nadal's matches just with this

http://www.tennisfrontier.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=4628&pid=228517#pid228517

Then of course we're told Carlos is a tacky umpire, doesn't do things properly etc. None of which I said and I only posted the remark above jokingly 'cos Kieran said he hates even the umpire 'cos we all know which umpire Nadal and fans hate most. It's all really rather silly. Anyway, there was zero about PEDs in any of that.

LOL. The response from all three of you was to defend and justify yourselves. Awesome.

And Kieran, what do you think I'm doing? Moderating. Or to put it more bluntly: Cut the shit. All of you.

Moving things along, El Dude what's the odds on the favorites now because I hear it's been a lot of movement the past few weeks

Well I clearly made zero posts about PEDs and was discussing umpiring. The others were just doing the usual. Backlashing true comments that they can't defend. Yes, Nadal is slow between points and yes they will even try and defend that and Carlos Bernades is apparently a tacky umpire. Out of those 3 you will see only one person had something true to say: me. I will talk about about PEDs only in the allocated thread for that and don't want to be lumped into the same pool as the others here when I'm discussing something actually factual, ie umpiring. I even pointed out others are slow too to point out Nadal is not the only one and rules need to be adhered to by all the players and that the umpires aren't doing a good job.

Haha, if you're talking about betting odds, I don't know. I think Novak remains the favorite, with Rafa somewhat behind. Rafa is gaining ground and if he can build upon his momentum in Madrid/Rome, he could be--as I think Kieran said--a "sneaky favorite."

I really can't imagine anyone else winning it other than those two, but I would have said the same thing last year. I guess Stan would be a distant third, then maybe Andy, then Roger. After those three, you have a third group of snowball's-chance-darkhorses in Thiem, Nishikori, Tsonga, Monfils, etc.

I don't know if Stan should be a distant 3 and I would probably put him still ahead slightly in front of Rafa because he still has shown he has the weapons that can hit through and penetrate Djokovic defense.

Stan's so inconsistent he could lose before the 2nd week or go all the way to the final again. Total headcase. Anyone's guess which version of Stan turns up this year but so far he's been very poor all year.

It's all about if Stan can bring it together for two weeks consecutively( remember Rafa wasn't playing that great in 2014,leading up to RG), I don't think Novak would want to see Stan in his half of the draw.
