Well I hope you're getting serious help if you truly believe that! Fed's one of the most beloved players in the history of the game! I can do without his "awww shucks" persona, but most people seem to like him! As for Nadal saving tennis; he's killing it IMO! From day one, I couldn't stand that hideous stroke productions of his! It's just too much for what he gets out of it for the most part! He's breaking down in front of your eyes; "CAN'T YOU SEE IT?" He'd be in serious trouble in past generations due to how short his shots land most of the time! The attacking styles of the 70's and 80's would kick him out of the top 20 IMO! He's just lucky he's playing among a lot of gutless players afraid to approach the net because they have the worst technique in the history of the game for the most part!

You don't get it, if Rafa wasn't there, Federer probably would have won 3 calendar grandslams, 30 slams, 500 weeks at no.1, easy domination with no rival, made a mockery of the sport and took a big dump on all past champions, tennis history & records . Nadal came and started beating him and saved tennis from total humiliation. He saved tennis and its history from death. Every real tennis fan should thank him and kiss his feet.

No you don't get it! We were talking about the fandom of Fedal not who dominated their rivalry! And I really hope you're getting nice inpatient care talking about that Federer dominance of Nadal keeping him from getting all those extra Slams and weeks at #!! You should look at what Nole's done to keep Nadal from eclipsing Fed; defeating him time and time again when it really counted to hold onto #1 and win majors he thinks he deserves! Every argument can be turned on its head; you just make it so easy with the dementia you're displaying here for all to see! :cuckoo: :banghead:  :nono:

You need help! Nadal is 9-5 in slams vs Djokovic and 9-3 vs Federer, he has stopped them much more. His biggest rival is his injuries.

Delpo pulled out, really sad
Sad to see indeed. But the season just started, I hope he gets back on track soon.
On another hand, with this Milos gets seeded at the AO. He will be ranked 17 starting Monday.

Milos was already seeded.JMDP withdrawal helped Philipp Kohlschreiber secure the 32th seed.

16-seed suggestion fell through - https://www.usatoday.com/story/spor...lams-to-continue-seeding-32-players/37806621/

Thanks for posting this. This is dated Sep 2018. However, most of us missed it.

Surely, the players would like 32 seeds and also the tourneys will like it as it offers more protection for big name players and so, the tourneys can make more money.

I thought JMDP withdrew only from warm-ups. I realize only now that he has withdrawn from AO itself. That is too bad. Hope, he gets a break from injuries.

OK folks, one week of warm-ups is over. Since the tourneys of Mudabala, Hopman Cup, Brisbane, Doha and Pune are over, it is time to take another look at the odds. Here are the latest odds.

1. Novak 13/10 (43.47%)

HUGE DROP

2. Roger 11/2 (15.38%)
3. Ralph 8 (11.11%
4. Sasha 9 (10%)

Large Drop

5. Cough Drop 28 (3.45%)
6. Kei Nishikori / Khachanov 33 (2.94%)
8. Andy Murray / Bad Boy / The Man 40 (2.43%)
11. Grigor / Thiem / Anderson / Coric / Perseus 50 (1.96%)
16. Goffin / Raonic 66 (1.49%)
18. Medvedev 80 (1.23%)
19. RBA / Chung / Shapo 100 (0.99%)

Not too much change. Despite the loss, Novak remains the favorite with a wide margin. As before there are three contenders and a plenty of pretenders. Fedal interchanged places. JMDP is obviously out as he withdrew. Surprising to see cough drop ahead of both Anderson and Kei despite not playing this week. I don't think we should take Andy or Bad boy or Thiem seriously. Among the seventeen pretenders, I think only the following six have real respectable chances: Cilic, Man, Anderson, Perseus, Khachanov and Coric. I am not saying they will win. I am feeling that their chances are much higher than the chances of other pretenders.

Next update shall be after the market has time to digest the draw which is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Thursday local time.

Final update shall be after the tourneys of Auckland, Sydney, Sydney Xho and AAMI classic (old name) are over.

Thanks for the update, and the opinions. To me, I think you should add Sasha to the list of pretenders with at least a prayer. I know people say he hasn't gone deep in a Major yet, but if you're going to put Tsitsipas and Coric, I think one has to have Zverev in there.

Sasha is actually in the contender list and so I did not include him.

I actually would put him in the pretender list as opposed to contender list.

Ah, I see. Yes, because you said that only 3 have a real shot, I thought you would have made Sasha a pretender, but didn't list him. Anyway, I agree with that, and your list. I wonder what kind of shape Murray will be in.

Bookies list is 1 favorite (Novak), 3 contenders (Fedal and Sasha) and 17 pretenders.

Murray will make it to R4 tops. I doubt he can make a QF in a slam.

Here are some dangerous floaters (unseeded players, who may cause an upset or two).

1. Fucs
2. Kyrgios
3. Berdych
4. Stan
5. Mischa
6. Dr. Evil
7. Rublev
8. Tsonga

Can add Sam Querry and Feliciano Lopez to the above list depending on how they fare this week.

Five Aussies including James Duckworth and Alex Bolt got WC.

Tsonga gets French reciprocal WC.

Jack Sock gets American reciprocal WC.

Zhi Li of China got a WC by winning the Asia-Pacific wildcard playoff event.

AO had sexist rules allowing "heat break" only for women before. Starting from this year, men also can enjoy "heat break" instead of being forced to continue to play in sweltering hot weather.

Good that they finally changed this as it was a travesty that the ones playing the shortest matches got extra privileges before.
