I've just read that Garbine made 9 double faults in the first set but later she was doing much better.
Next Monday she will be the 20 in the Ranking, not bad

I've read somewhere there was a sand storm during the first 2 sets. There were a lot of DF on both sides.

What separates Keys from the other Americans who have failed to impress is her mentality. Do you think Sloane could have fought off 9 match points against Serena?

Serena has picked Keys to reach number one in the world. I agree. If she can stay healthy, she will win majors.

I wonder when the lefty Pliskova will break through? She should have a better career than the righty all things being equal

I disagree that Woz is off to a poor start. She had the misfortune to meet Vika in round two of AO, then caught a cold. She will have a great year.

I have to agree with you 100% regarding Madison and her mentality,as I said when I watched her play her matches at the AO,she just held her nerve in many matches, todays game is around 80% mental, even if you have all the shots in the world, playing those Big Points in matches and winning, makes the difference between a ordinary player and that of a champion player, another thing is also converting your break point chances.

We shall see! I really hope she's successful but I'm going to refrain from getting overly excited about her just yet.

You missed the points of my post,I was talking about Madison's game and how I feel she has come on since Davenport has been her coach. If you had watched all her matches at the AO,like I did,you would have seen for yourself how she held her nerve,in the big points, that to me is a sign of a good player, remember she has just turned 20 years of age,she has such easy power off both wings, her movement has improved, her serve is a asset. Also in her s/final match against Serena, she wasnt intimated at all,Serena at times wins her matches in the locker room,as players cannot cope with just seeing her presence on court.Madison was also delighted when she defeated her 'idol' Venus.I feel out of all the current American girls,Madison certainly has more 'upside' to her game.Of course there are area's she can still improve on,she has time on her side.

And you missed the point of my original post. Until she shows more results, she hasn't shown anything. She made a GS semi. Great. She held off the great Serena for 9 match points. Great. Let's see the follow up before we start proclaiming her the next great thing. I've seen too many of these to jump on the bandwagon so fast. But for the record, I do hope she makes it. She is an exciting player to watch. But it's been a month and she has been injured and so nothing. We'll see.

First you said she Faded Away? then you said you used the wrong wording?
As I said I Never Stated or proclaimed that she is the Next Biggest Thing
I suggest you just scroll my posts in future,I find you too confronting quite frankly and you take posts of context and also make posts out of context.I have been watching womens for nearly 40 years and I am not the type to 'proclaim' any player at any time.

All I did was mention my opinion of Keys and you started taking it all personal. Relax.

Yeah, I'm done too. We can have our own opinions without getting all personal about it.

This Has Nothing to do with being Personal

Again you take my posts out of context

I Never Proclaimed Madison to be the Next Biggest Thing in Any of my Posts.Full Stop.

I was simply stating my own personal thoughts on Madison Keys as other poster did, which I agreed with

If all you can reply is 'relax and stop taking it personal? to me that is a weak reply

I have had enough.I am not interested in getting into any more further discussions period, leave out the personal things please,it has no place in this discussion period.

So far Keys is just another American who happened to make it to a Grand Slam semi, only to fade away. Of course we still have to see what Keys does after this but talking about her being a rival for anyone is a pit premature.

Too bad for Woz but Halep really turned it on. Hope she takes the title now.

I have to disagree....'only to fade away' Madison saves many MPs in that 3rd set and made Serena serve out the match? that dosent mean 'fade away' in my books
One factor that impressed me with Madison was the way she held her nerve in that tournament, she has just turned 20 years of age,I have followed her since she first started the tour. Also with Davenport as her coach,to me that is a match made in heaven, when I first saw Madison play she reminded me of Davenport in so many ways.Madison also has improved her overall court movement since she has hooked up with Davenport.Madison would have to have one of the best fhands at present in the womens game. She is just learning to play with more controlled aggression on both wings. Her serve is also a big asset.

I worded it a bit weird but I wasn't implying that Keys has faded away already. I was thinking of the other Americans when I typed that. But I really don't care what she did or how she lost in the semifinal to Serena. I've seen too many of these "next American stars" only to see them fail one after another. I truly hope she can break through because she is very exiting to watch. But until she does something at the other tournaments and can be consistent, she is just another flash in the pan. Again, hoping she isn't.

I am so with you on this. People have been promoting Keys for years. So she finally had one good slam result and now she's a future?

The previous poster commended her "taking it to Serena" um... Sloane beat Serena and where is she now?
