you know whats funny. In 2007 Federer was going for his 50th title in Montreal and was facing Djokovic in the final. He lost the match

Now in 2015 Djokovic was going for his 50th Title in Dubai and is facing Federer in the final and he also lost .

So what goes around comes around :D

You know what's scary? I remember that Montreal match like it was yesterday and to me, it was a relatively "recent" event... It took place almost 8 years ago :puzzled

Damn time flies by.

^I remember the match too! Wasn't that the first time Novak beat Roger?

So now Federer has beaten Djokovic in straight sets THREE times in the last 12 months.
Djokovic's destiny is completely in Federer's hands each time they meet.

Too bad Roger doesn't play like this against Nadal! It's all about match ups; Nole can beat Nadal, Nadal beats Roger, and Roger can beat Nole! Throw Andy in there sometime in the past and you understand what I'm talking about! :nono  :cover

I'd be very interested in seeing a Roger-Rafa match-up on a faster court. I think Roger could pull it off.

^ Yeah but if we look at their last 4 slam meetings-
Nadal has won 4 in a row over Djokovic.
Djokovic has won 3 of 4 over Federer.
Not sure what that says about match-ups.

Looks like your annual prediction of Fed going away may need to be put on ice for another year, herios old fruit.

:eyepop

This must mean something different in the rest of the world. ;)

Brit expression, so rest of the world would mean anywhere outside the UK.

old sport, old fruit etc...

Well good to know what I can get away with saying in the UK :snicker

How long ago was that? Nadal has to "get there" to play him! Oh, FO matches that are barely watchable! :popcorn :cover :nono :dodgy: I'm still trying to recover from '12 AO final; saw it all live! :eyepop :nono

Well their last slam meeting was 2014 RG, and the one before that was 2013 USO (Nadal won that 6-1 in the 4th set, it was the most lopsided of their last 4 meetings).
I hope Djokovic shows up at the US Open again this year, because me thinks Nadal is headed for another title there.
On 2nd thought, the most anticipated match in tennis is surely Nadal-Federer at the US Open.

Roger has no business losing to Rafa on a quick surface. He has somehow managed to do it 3 times...all bad losses

The live ranking still in no danger of changing anytime soon; if at all for the rest of the season! Nole up by almost 4000; likewise with Roger in 2nd over Murray! The real race is between Andy and Rafa believe it or not! Nadal has some points to defend; losing Rio didn't help dropping him to 4th in the WORLD!

If I remember well, Rafa doesn't have too many points to defense in IW, Miami, Roma and MC.....

I should have said "some," not a lot! Gotcha; changed post! Thanks!

Rankings aren't relevant to Nadal, because he's won 15 slam matches in a row over Djokovic/Federer/Murray.
Doesn't matter which of them he plays in the semis of a slam.
Certainly won't mater at Roland Garros.
But he should profit at Monte Carlo and Barcelona, because he lost in the QF of both, and lost early at Indian Wells.
