Well done Roger. Classic case of winning all the points that mattered today. Despite not having a particular good day at the office. In fact this reminds me of the thread where folks were talking about matches Roger has lots winning more points. This one felt like the opposite.

11 aces for Roger to just 1 for Novak. Not a great stat for Novak.

Well, I guess Roger is showing us he can still stand with the top dog. But for his fall out against Seppi, he seems to have more resilience in tough matches these last six months or so. He is grinding out wins more than he used to. This is a good sign for the upcoming North American hard court swing through Indian Wells and Miami--except he is not playing in Miami. :-(

Looks like your annual prediction of Fed going away may need to be put on ice for another year, herios old fruit.

Loved Fed's aggression and net game tonight.

I do too. It was being discussed before here and I agree with both sides. Guys like Nole will pass you a million times, but you still have to make them hit that shot to beat you, as opposed to beating you the way THEY want to beat you, not under stress with time taken away, but swinging freely from the baseline with a lot of margin for error. Roger tries to take that away. Sometimes it works, other times not so much, but he still HAS to play this way at this point in his career,I think.

Fast court, best of 3, let's not get lose our minds! It's early in the season and this is practically his home! :dodgy:

Didn't watch. But Fed is still a better player on fast hards when he's playing well. Not too surprising to be honest, especially in a best of 3. There's a reason Fed has had the better of him routinely in Dubai, Cinci, etc...

Good job by the old man.

Brit expression, so rest of the world would mean anywhere outside the UK.

old sport, old fruit etc...

Congrats to Maestero!

Look at the stats. He saves 100% of his own break points and converts 100% of
break points of the opponent.

Unbelievable.

Are we ready for #18?

So? Fast courts are legit, too, as are best of 3s. I still think Roger would have a hard time beating Novak at a Slam, but non-Slams matter too.

you know whats funny. In 2007 Federer was going for his 50th title in Montreal and was facing Djokovic in the final. He lost the match

Now in 2015 Djokovic was going for his 50th Title in Dubai and is facing Federer in the final and he also lost .

So what goes around comes around :D
