Brands' demeanour on court was very calm and concentrated out there. Hope he keeps playing well. He has a good shot against either Gasquet or Monfils as both are so streaky.

Yup. 10:20pm (or 22:20 if you're used to 24 hour clock) over there now.

I predict plenty of lucky aces from Monfils tonight.

Any updates on Kamke's knee? I am so worried about it. ;)

Murray, fit for only one and a half set it seems. I don't think he will be 100% to Melbourne.

Mayer said he looked " maybe a bit injured in the third set". Probably hasn't had enough time to do as much cardio as usual and not fully fit.

Tons of upsets in this event so far. Very unpredictable.

What's Gasquet's injury? Shoulder? Hard to tell with him he always looks so hunched anyway.

Great event for betting on though. Kinda gutted I didn't have any down. Brands in particular I thought would win against Ferrer before the match started. Can't say I'd have predicted Mayer beating Murray though.

I am sorry that i didn't watch that. Ferrer is in a good form as he played well against both top 2 in Abu Dhabi, so i wonder how well Brands play if he beat Daveed.

Just gave him no time or rhythm really with his huge serve and big groundstrokes. Hit some monster forehands and backhands. Same kind of play that puts most top players in danger except today Brands executed it till the end which was nice to see for once. Had a few blips on his own serve but stayed calm and kept going and broke back strongly. A great win for him.

This event is not a good one for Ferrer, I am wondering why he enters here anyway, because next week he plays Auckland where he usually dominates.
Last year he lost in Doha to Davydenko who didn't do much all year overall, this year to Brands. As far as Murray, I was expecting him to be less than his usual level because of the surgery, that is why I am predicting that this is the best chance for JMDP to get into the top 4 by passing Andy.

Agree about JMDP and had forgotten Ferrer lost to Davydenko here last year. I remember all the hype that Davydenko was gonna make a comeback of some sort but that turned out to be pretty much it for the year.

Andy lost a doubs match after his singles loss. Maybe it's not the back, but his stamina/training not at 100% yet

More than likely I reckon. Hard to put in proper training hours when you're meant to be rehabilitating and resting.

Still wondering what Gasquet's injury is? Commentators keep going on about him being injured. Arm/shoulder?

Great passing shot by Monfils after a nice rally.

The defending champ Reeshard is out in straights. Front, according to the commentator RG injured his back before the tournament
