Gulbis wind up for the forehand looks like a caveman dragging a blond behind him into his cave...

Ernie G is such an awkward and unothrodox player for Rafa (or any human to face). I dont understand why Rafa just dosnt just abandon the slice backhnad and get into a shootout with Gulbis. Gulbis wil beat himself if Rafa stays on EG's forehand.. However Rafa has 13 grandslam titles to date and I am still pursuing my 1st:puzzled

Rafa will beat him anyway, I'm sure, but that's not the purpose of the match: practice for Oz! So he has to hit as many slices and so on as possible...

Just a bit of trivia came to my mind watching this: are white tennis balls ever used any more? I doubt it, but they'd make a better contrast with the backstop here...

You haven't missed that much. There was another small rain delay after the first game, they traded breaks and we're on serve 4-4

I like this Rafa: busy, sharp and playing quickly. A few successful darts to the net too...

That wasn't a forehand by Gulbis - it was an ape!

Who taught Ernie his technique? He didn't develop this on his own, did he?

Niceone. Yeah I think since New Year my stream defaulted back to GMT + 1 instead of 0.

Effective ape! The evolution of man.

A very effective ape - it has the ability to make a monkey out of Rafa!
