that's something you and your inferiority complex have to deal with. 14 > 7.

Do Nadal fans have inferiority complex considering that Federer has won 17 slams?

Also, this might be complicated but let's break it down:

14-7 =7.

17-14=3.

One is a bit closer to catching the other. Also, one hasn't lived in the shadow of his rivals for the majority of his career so that inferiority complex is a bit easier to shake off.

Who cares? They're all different players, the Fedal game is pathetic. Their both all time greats, just be happy with your players and glad you aren't a nalbandian fan (Love the guy, he just did not live up to his potential).

I'm pretty sure I posted right above the post you quoted that I'm very happy with my player.

But you're kidding yourself if you ask "who cares?"

We all do. You care about Novak winning more slams, and if Novak ever gets close to Rafa's count, you'll care about him surpassing him. Rafa fans care about Rafa overtaking Roger in the slam count, as they should. No need for forced diplomacy.

Of course if the above doesn't materialize, there's no reason to be upset since they've all done extremely well in their careers, but it's not wrong to wish for more.

^This is interesting. I kind of get what Riot is saying. If Rafa, at the end of his career posts a better slam count than Roger, does that take anything away from the joy I had watching him? Not really. Yes, ideally I would like Roger to have a greater count, but to be honest for me, that's more because I would rather Roger wins more. The only time, I'll consider myself to have stooped is when Novak was going for 4 in a row. I confess it.. I wouldn't have been happy with that :D That was back when I was still slightly anti-Novak. If he did it now, I would be up and cheering along with the Novak fans. I say this, having been as passionate a Mac and Edberg supporter as I've ever been for Roger. I don't see their careers as having been diminished because others have surpassed them. Far from it, their legend grows over the years. Rafa surpassing Roger is not going to stop me from thinking Roger has been the superlative player I've always thought he was..

Rafa could acquire 20 majors and I'd still say he was the most limited champion I've ever seen! He's won a lot, but he's only been impressive on clay! He has not one defense of a title off that surface! I'll take the beauty of Fed's game over the "ugly stroking" of Nadal anytime; now or later! His gamesmanship also takes away from his legend! Does he really need to do that to win? Seems so! :s :dodgy:

I agree with some of that. But... limited champion? I think we carry our prejudices with us when we make that statement. And besides... if he's limited and he's still able to win 14, if not 20 slams? Doesn't that make him look even better? And a slam in 9 consecutive years? Jeepers! I don't buy it personally.. I may not be a fan of his style... but jeez.. he's some player! It just doesn't make sense to not admit that. But I do agree.. it doesn't look good that he hasn't been able to defend off clay. For me one of the most underrated things about Roger's career is the 5 consecutive in 2 slams. Even if he only had 10 slams... 5 consecutive.. twice? We may never see that again. People go on about Laver and the calendar slam, but call me biased.. I think 5 consecutive in 2 slams is the most impressive thing ever to happen in professional men's tennis. And it's been done in an era of greater depth than we've ever seen before

This is all I am saying. If Rafa never wins another slam, his meaning for tennis will hardly change IMO, the reason we like these guys is not numbers. By all means root for your guys (hope they amass a pile of trophies, by all means), but I am so tired of the constant numbers games arguments, as if they are going to prove someone is better to their fans. Sorry Broken, you are by no means the only person, just happened to set off on something in my mind for some time. I could just care less and am tired of watching fans of maybe the two best players of all times bicker over inconsequential numbers. They are both great and have brought amazing things to tennis. If it helps rafa fans sleep better to think he has a h2h advantage over fed (or vice versa), in my opinion you are missing the point.

There's nothing immature about being competitive. DarthFed will be the first to tell you that he wants Roger to win 4 slams a year and Rafa never to win a tennis match again in his life.

Sounds good to me! :lolz: :laydownlaughing  :dodgy: It's hard to even watch him lose, the tennis is so ugly!

Some do, yes, but the H2H makes it easy to sleep just fine at night.

Slams are far and away more important than H2H so I can't see how you can "easy sleep just fine at night".

That being the case, since 2011 rafa has won 4 slams and Novak has won 3. Wanna edit your OP? :popcorn

As long as Federer's slam count is higher than Nadal's, you'll have inferiority complex.

So far, only one season out of four, by your own measure. It's not really convincing, is it? ;)

No, I don't. I fully acknowledge that Federer is the better player and has had the better career, while being perfectly happy with what Nadal has done. I'm not the one trying to overstate the accomplishment of my player. How is that an inferiority complex?

Ummm, the inferiority complex comment was a direct response to Billie. Why did you think it was addressed to you?

In the post #36 you said this:

"The inferiority complex and defensiveness are all about Novak fans."

In general, yes. It's not even debatable. Federer fans are arrogant, Nadal fans are excuse makers, Djokovic fans play the victim-card driven by inferiority complexes. There are exceptions and you're new here, but that's the way it's been for years.
