For the record, I'm not a Djokovic fan, although I do like him more than Nadal. I'm more of a Underdog (Berdych-Tsonga-Ferrer, etc...) fan.

All 3 of those guys have all the shots, but find ways to lose to the top players no matter their lead! I'm surprised Tsonga continues to play after he lost that FO match to Nole with 4 match points a couple years ago! Berdych and Ferrer are the same; just not good enough to "get it done!" :cover :nono :puzzled

Hold on. Back up. It seems to me that the Nadal fans are the ones that need to think about "objective and subjective" posting. Some these fanboy posts are very amusing. And they seem to keep turning every thread into something about Nadal. Seems to me that the Nadal fans are the ones that need to cool it a bit with their fanboy worship of their hero.

Nadal fans should be happy that Nadal is still king of clay. Other than clay, what are his great achievements since 2011? 1 USO title and a couple of Masters 1000 (all happened in the span of 2 months). His results off clay are not really that impressive in the period of 2011 to today, IMO. Or is this also subjective opinion.:snicker

Tennis Frontier last time I checked wasn't this type of tennis site.

Some of your posts can be taken out of context I have read them, not just this post by the way.
I usually dont post on Federer's,Novak posts or Rafa's posts that much by the way, because they tend to get out of hand.I also happen to be a fan of Novak.

since 2010..mr djokovic has won.

7 majors titles,
15 master titles,
3 wtf titles,
3 times ye world no1.

I suppose we could call it the semi djokovic with a portion of rafa and murray and Federer and a sprinkling of cilic n stanimal era.

I'm not even a Nadal fan, but maybe you should do a little research before you make a blanket statement like that. Here are his wins/finals off clay for the last 4 years taken from the ATP site:

http://www.atpworldtour.com/Tennis/Players/Top-Players/Rafael-Nadal.aspx?t=tf

2012 - AO finalist
2013 - won IW, Toronto, Cinci and USO
2013 - Beijing & WTF finalist
2014 - won Doha
2014 - AO finalist

Obviously longer than a 2 month period in 2013 and he should get bonus points for defeating arguably the best HC player (Novak) for 2 of those titles.

Oops I was off 2 Masters 1000 title...my bad .....you don't get anything for finishing 2nd I am told, otherwise Nole's achievements would have been more impressive than they are right now.:D

Doha...darn it how could I forget such a big title.

Seriously it is impressive, but Nole wins the number of titles in 1 year ever since 2011 every year that Nadal did in 4+year together.

Like I said, his fans should just be thankful for clay.

Yeah, Nadal has definitely won his share. What he did in the summer of 2013 was stunning.

Of course you get something for finishing 2nd (ranking points, less $ and a smaller trophy). But being a finalist means you were the 2nd best player in the tournament, so it's a bit minimalist to say you don't get anything. The winner has to have someone to play, right?

Well ask Darth....no title so the final does not matter that much. Otherwise if I counted Nole's lost finals....then his results would have been extremely impressive. He has been in 6 other major finals during this time frame that he lost but we don't count that as part of being dominant, do we?:nono

Darth is not apart of this equation. This is about the statement you made that he hadn't done much off clay. I just showed you the results. So if getting to the final of a 500, masters event or GS doesn't mean anything, should we just decide the tournament winner in the SF? Maybe it should be a proxy (just give the trophy and the title to the better player on that surface)? Do you see how silly that all sounds?

Why wouldn't his finalist results count as part of his dominance? It shows how good he is that he got to the final match of all those tournaments.

Nole won as many clay Masters titles as Nadal hard court Masters titles (even though clay season is shorter), been in 2 RG finals in the same period, but do I claim that he is better on clay than Nadal or that those are some mighty impressive achievements? Those are nice results but nowhere near Nadal's on clay.

When I say that being in 3 major finals and winning one of them is success and big deal and part of being dominant in these years, I was told: who cares about the finals, no win no cigars, that wasn't as impressive an achievement. Now it its, OK, nice to know.:D

This much I think we can agree on: You have to get to a final to give yourself a chance to win that tournament. The more chances you give yourself to win, the more your results will increase, right? The final match can have many variables, but it usually comes down to who plays the best for the longest time on that particular day.

I've seen all 6 finals you reference and some of them were absolute head scratchers (like RG 2012/14, Wimby and USO 2013. He was playing some of the best tennis for 2 weeks and when he needed to really bring it on the final day, it's like he froze. That's more mental than anything. I'm sure it's one of the reasons he brought Boris onboard. Becker's record is pretty good, right 2-1 in GS finals under his tutelage?

^^ I don't think that those were all just mental in his major losses. RG 2012 definitely was, but RG2014, Nole just was sick at an unfortunate time. Wimbledon 2013 he just didn't have anything left for the final and in 2013 his whole NAHC season was terrible (but he did have a minor surgery on his shoulder). 2014 was terrible as well, but that is more from the effects of his wedding than anything else, he partied too much and sucked pretty much in Toronto, Cincy and NY. On the other hand, that can be put down to mental part maybe.

My whole point has always been that it is so much harder to constantly win tournament in and out than 5-6 years ago. Everybody is fit now and the tour is more physical than ever. Yet despite that he managed to stay on top for most of the time, win the most tournaments, make major finals and end #1 most years. To me, he has been the most dominant player (except on clay) and the most consistent from January 2011 till now. That's all I am claiming.

I will say something, because I am the one who reignited the chat, following the Koenig article.
As a big Novak fan, I do not consider the 2011-2014 a Djokovic era, because put it simply it was not an era.
He had an exceptionally great year in 20111, but a year does not make a era.
2012-2014 was OK, he was the best overall, but he was back and forth with Roger and Nadal at the pole position, so definitely not domination.
However, he may just kick-off a new Nole era, if he manages an average 2 slams each of the next 3 years and if the rest 6 of them will be collected by at least other 3 guys winning not more than 2 each. If that is the case, he may have a era but that is a big if at this point.
I will be waiting patiently and calmly, because I see him being in a good place and I believe that he will have more great wins in the near future.
