The top 8 players in the world meaning every single match played is between the world's best unlike the Olympics which feature a plethora of donkeys in many rounds. Maybe you should think before approaching the keyboard.
Not really. At the WTF most players are tired, many of them don't like fast indoors anyways so their level is not their best and their ranking becomes irrelevant, and you can actually lose a match and still win the tournament. Meanwhile in regular tournaments like the Olympics or Masters 1000, you get to play the players who are playing the highest level that particular week regardless of their ranking and you can't afford having a bad day.
A player can be #5 or #8 for the year but in the last 2 months he hasn't won a match, therefore it doesn't mean that his ranking automatically means he's more difficult. Usually at the WTF a lot of players are tired or simply not at their best, the level of the matches is not always great. Tons of players also skip it or just want to get the season over with.
Having 64 players and getting in the QFs the best 8 out of those 64 based on current level
is much better than putting only 8 players who might have gotten their ranking points during the year in different court conditions or some being tired or not at their best that particular week. Have a nice day and please continue watching tennis but don't embarrass yourself by talking about it.
